This is the reason that Steve McCann and Randy Dawdy decided on their name.,,l There are just two of them, but the sound they produce would make you think you were listening to at least five– When asked what in - or more players. fluenced their music they Steve plays 'keyboard, or both answered, "Everyone." should I say keyboards. He They generally practice when they get the urge or before a concert or town. It's more or less on and off. In the spring Busker has planned a Western and Northern Ontario tour. In May and June they will return back to their homes, Steve in Toronto and Randy in London. They will play in the Windsor -Toronto area drums, chimes and a gong, plus other" small percussion instruments used for special effects. His career in music totals abput 10 years, six on drums and tour singing. Both are natives of St. Thomas. They have known each other since they were kids but have played together for only four years. He has. studied the keyboard for 10 years and has a degree in music from the University of Western Ontario. Randy is self-taught. His drums consist of a regular set plus a kettle drum, four congo until the summer and then will begin an Eastern tour. They are presently trying to start their own recording studio. Steve likes to write songs and you can hear them by buying their recently produced album, "Busker: On Any Street Corner" which was recorded at Springfield Sound. When they play, they say that they "risk everything" and want most of all to keep getting better. Their greatest hope right now ,is to sell the album and gain recognition. If you would like to tell this fantastic group how much you like them, or find out more about them, write: Busker Fan Club, 123 Wharncliffe Rd., N., London, Ontario N6M 2B1. Big Brother tells all This week Big Brother has first a mistake to clear up, a mistake made last week by one of my munchkins. Last week one of the flashes read that S.M. was thrilled by guys. This should have really read that M.S. was thrilled by guys, and seeing that M.S. is a girl then it isn't kinky at all. Sorry G.M..,. I know you thought that this was your opportunity. This week, however, S.M. really did hit the headlines. In his mad rush for a bus that was leaving for his favourite hamlet, S. became so flustered that he went flying onto the bus with his lock 'and all. His next big move was to beg.the driver to let him off at the next door so he could replace it before it became looted. I must say that that was a real smooth move. It's really too bad that the physical education girls aren't safe from the ogling eyes of G.H., even at the middle of class. Maybe now that he's on crutches he will not be able to ' chase them quite so fast. The other day Mr, H. became very much overcome with laughter, you might even say that he got to the giddy stage. The only thing that makes us wonder is that there wasn't anything . that was funny. While locked in the theatre in • Blyth several of the students of the different schools decided that they should, if the situation should arise that they were to be stuck in this tiny little hole, set up an over night party. Well the situation didn't arise •" .Ie and all of the students 'had to plow their ways home. This included the Mr. S. who was advised by some of his favorite students to "call the' wife, pick up sortie chocolate bars and his favorite bottle of vino, and to set out .for home." Seeing that we're in the middle of one of the worst storm's of the season, I'd like to take this -time to wish you and yours the merriest Christmas and, the happiest new year because it doesn't look like we're going to see you -again till after the Holiday season. Basketball round -up The Senior boys played their first regular season game against Mitchell Thursday. It was a close, hard-fought game, but the Redmen came out on top. Led by Richard "Tiny" Carter's 23 points, Clinton won 55 - 54. The Juniors began their regular season with a loss to the strong Mitchell team. The game was well played with the Redmen losing by only 4 poJnts. The final score was Mitchell 41, Clinton 37. The Midget basketball team started the season off on the right foot by winning their secondary school news Home for the holidays or hemispheres by Ken McBride Maybe I'm just a little jealous, but whetiver I hear about somebody going to the tropics for Christmas, it makes my blood run 'cool. Ontario greenhouse growers have been preparing poinsettias for this holiday season since about mid- August, according to D.B. McNeill, Ontario ministry of agriculture and food hor- ticulturist. Although Ithe plants originate in Mexl'co, cuttings are grown in Ontario greenhouses. The finished plants are readily available across the province. Frankly, at this time of year, I think even the term "sub -zero" has a certain charm. There is something about the winter in the air (if you can ignore the slush on the street) that makes Christmas very special to those of us who are fortunate enough to live in this sometimes in- temperate North Temperate Zone. You don't hink we're lucky? Look at the great stuff we can be thankful for at this time of year: wide-eyed, rosey checked chestnuts...children roasting on an open fire...Popsicle Pete's main man nipping at your nose... - It rnakoc; voiu fool warm inside, just like some kid's teddy bear before he gets his candy cane stuck all over it. One finds it difficult to imagine the kind of Christ- mas folks must have down on the sunny side of the world. Can you picture Doli. Ho singing "Jingle Bells" in his Bermuda shorts?...kids with visions of snow -cones dancing in their heads?...turkey shishcabob with barbecued mincemeat?... Not for me, thank you very much, I'd be too tempted to write to S. Nick asking for a surfboard and a well-filled bikini. What kind of Christmas spirit is that? If you ask me, it's no co- incidence that Mr. Claus' headquarters are at this end of the planet. EARLY BUILDING IN GODERICH & COLBORNE TOWNSHIPS. SNI 11.1.
