McKillop drains mapped by NIVCA
,By Wilma Oke
All municipal drains in
McKillop Township have
been marked on a map
prepared by the Maitland
Valley Conservation
Authority.
The map was presented to
McKillop council at the
regular session in Winthrop
Monday afternoon,
December 5 by Ian
Deslauriers, resources
manager; Lorne Murray,
chairman; and Craig Piper,
staff member.
Council members were
informed that ' any con-
struction work planned over
any drain, or within the
boundary lines of each drain
as marked on the map, will
require approval of the
Authority before any permit
for the construction is given
out by council.
Council endorsed a
resolution from Sandwich
Township . West concerning
illegal passing of school
buses. At present a school bus
driver must , identify the
license plate number and
identify the driver of any
vehicle passing illegally a
school bus, stopped with
flashing lights, picking up or
discharging students. The
resolution calls for the license
number only as being suf-
ficient to get a cc .viction of a
car owner ; rather than
having to identify the driver
as well.
Council agreed with a
proposal from the County of
Huron that senior citizens
residency in senior citizens
apartments be established on
a county -wide basis.
Council approved three 1977
tax rebates for $101.99
because of buildings
demolished by the owners.
Passed for payment were
road accounts for $6,506.78
and general accounts of
$168,799.29, including school
levies to Huron County Board
of Education $81,948.00 and
Huron -Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School
Board $15,752.50 and county
levy to Huron County
$38,031.63.
