Second councillor resigns
For the second time in
twice as many months,'
Bayfield council is faced with
seeking a suitable
replacement for a councillor,
who last week wrote his letter
of resignation to be dealt with
at a council meeting on
Monday, December 5.
Doug Sinnamon, who is
finishing his first year on
council, gave personal
reasons as the cause of his

enjoyed on Tuesday evening
with representatives from all
clubs in the zone and also
members from the Seaforth
Lions Club attending. All
were hosts of Adams
Distillery.
Made donations to
Shanahan's following their`
fire; to Lions International
Foundation and also to
CARE, .
Arranged a Turkey Bingo
resignation. He felt that he
wanted to spend more time at
home with his young family
and felt that as a councillor
with all the associated
committees of council it was
too much.
Besides running his
grocery business, he belongs
to other organizations and
hasn't had time to devote to
them.
He said it wasn't any big
thing thnt h)rf r)l1crrt hi'
decision to resign, ' just a
number of small things that
had gotten to him.
He said he felt guilty about
running out on the people who
had elected him to office and
hoped they would understand
his decision to resign.
Doug is the second coun-
cillor to resign. in recent
months. Milvena Erickson
also tendered her resignation
in July of this year.

Chancel Guild decorates church
The Chancel Guild of
Trinity Anglican Church met
Tuesday afternoon,
November 29 at the home of
Mrs. Vera Turner.The
president, Mrs. Lillian
Higgins, opened the meeting
by the repeating of the id's
Prayer and membergeprayer
in unison. .
Mrs. Pat Van Patter read a
scripture, reading from the
4th chapter of Phillipians and
Mrs. Higgins spoke of the
dedication of the members
and thanked Mrs. Turner and
Mrs. Vera McLaughlin for
their clever 'work and
-willingness in creating the
frontals and hangings for the
altar, pulpit and reading desk
rnade from Portugese
tapestry.
The roll tall and minutes of
the previous meeting were
read by Mrs. Vina Parker and
the treasurer's report was
given by Mrs. Helen LeBeau.
During the business
session, ' discussion centered
around the decorating of . the
Church for Christmas. The
members learned that Mrs.
Agnes Cameron has offered a
tree and Gordon Graham the
hay for the Creche. The
decorating will be done
December 17 at 10 a.m. Bob
and Vera Turner offered to
make a garland -for the
roodscreen. Anyone wishing
to donate towards flowers is
asked to contact, treasurer,
Mrs. Helen LeBeau. Donors

Jan Huntley, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Huntley,
was congratulated on having
her account of an interview
selected for the,front page of
the Conestoga College School
of Journalism paper last
week.
Jan, a first year student in
Journalism, was f8rtunate in
arranging an interview with
Mr. Lorne S. Caughill,
Ontario Chairman for
Commitment Canada. This
,group ,is a non-profit non-
political, people -oriented
organization concerned with
making the public aware of
unity problems and to en-
courage more leadership
teams across Canada.
In the same issue of the
paper, Jan also had her first
book review published.

The carol service will be
held on Sunday morning,
December 18 Rev. William
Bennett, rector of Trinity was
guest speaker and he spoke
on the four main parts of the
church; the Narthex
(vestibule) ; nave, chancel
_
.and sanctuary. He dealt with
the care of the sanctuary, the
credence table .to- the right
and the bishop's chair to the
left. He instructed the women
in some of the duties and
expressed his thankfulness
for the care of the communion
table.
The members expressed
their thanks to the Rector and
also to Miss Kay Reid for the
new corporal and the green
corded ribbon fringe and
crosses which she had
brought from Windsor from a
fund not functioning now. A
new credence cloth is being
made and embroidered by a
friend of Miss Reid's who is ,
incapacitated but dedicated.
The Rector closed with the
Advent Prayer and Vera
Turner assisted by Helen
LeBeau served Christmas
dainties.
Round about the village
The ' t1CW members of St.
Andrew's United Church,
both units, are asked to be
reminded, to bring in their
pennies to their joint meeting
in the Church on Wednesday
night at p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. ,Dalton. Smith
visited for a few days' "in
Mississauga with their
daughter Janet, Mrs. William
Vrieze, William'and grandson
Billy.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Rachich, Jennifer and
Meagen, Ingersoll spent the
weekend with her mitither,
Mrs. Lulu Smith.
Mrs. Peg Morley, son
Robert and friend, Cleveland,
Ohio spent the weekend at her
home in the Village. They had
as their guests, her -brother
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Burt
and family of St. Catharines.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pounder
returned home Saturday
after spending three weeks at
their home in St. Petersburg,
Florida. While there, they
were visited by their son, Mr.

were pleased on Sunday to
welcome Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Gammage as members.
Their membership had been
tfansf"erred from their
previous church in London.
The first Sunday in Advent
was observed with Julie
Porter lighting the first
candle. Sunday next (Dec. 11)
will be White Gift Sunday;
Saturday, December 17 is the
Sunday School Christmas
party;, the Candlelight Ser-
vice is in the evening of
December 18 and December
24 at 7:30 will be Christmas
Eve communion.
Rev. Reddoch occupied the
pulpit and is feeling better.
Mrs. Reddoch is home and
progressing favourably. Best
wishes to both the Reddochs.
Saying he is "fed up" with politics after one . year.

Rev. William Bennett,
rector of Trinity Anglican
Church, officiated Sunday at
the 8 a.m. Communion, Ser-
vice and the 10, a.m. Sung
Mattins. Harry Baker read
the lesson and twins Johnie
and Jamie Sauve, lit the
Advent Candles, it being the
second Sunday in Advent,
which is known as Bible
Sunday for its Collect, Epistle
and Gospel point to Holy
Scripture as inspired by God
in order to prepare His people
for the first and second ad-
vents of his son. Thus
Timothy, here is reminded
that "Holy Scripture con-
taineth all things necessary to
salvation", and that the Word
of God, faith, -- fully read and
preached, perfects for us the
unfading crown of glory.
The flowers in the Sanc-
tuary were given by Fred and
Barbara (Tillman) Jones who
on Saturday exchanged vows
of Holy Matrimony and
shared the Sacrament of the
Lord's Supper.
Sunday next, December 11,
Rev. Bennett will celebrate
Holy 'Communion at both the 8
a.m. and 10 a.m. services. It
will also b.e White Gift Sun-
. day. By tradition, we bring
gifts on Advent III to „help
others: Toys, wearing ap-
parel (up to size 12) or the gift
of money to assist the
Childreriss Aids "Society to
purchase food for the needy

Seniors hold Xmas party
The . Byafield Ever Young
Club held their annual
Christmas party in St.
Andrew's United Church on
Friday evening, December. 2,
when over 60 members and
guests sat down to a bountiful
turkey dinner in the Sunday
School room, beautifully
decorated for the season.
Mrs. Milvena Erickson
made' and donated the table,
favours and also two candy
angels. These angels were
won by Mrs. Nora Orr and
Mrs. Beulah Smith.
Rev. William Bennett was
the guest speaker. Mrs.'.

Following this, two short
movies were shown _by
Charlie Scotehmer and Mr.
