Woman donates map to Legion basketball meet
By Rene Drochu
During the November 2ndl
Poppy Drive when Comrade
George Brown was can-
vassing Huron Street, Mrs,
James Handy presented him
with a map for presentation
to the Legion.
The Map denotes the troop
movement of the Allied
Forces in Europe from
January 1945 to the end of
hostilities.
This map was originally
presented to the then
..Governor General of Canada,
Vincent Massey by the then
Vice President of the U.S.A.,
Harry Truman. Mr. Handy
purchased this map at an
estate auction and was his
endeared possession until his
death.
The executive and mem-
bers would like to express
their thanks to Mrs. HRndy
for her generosity. The map
will be displa-yed in a
prominent location in the
Legion. I'm sure many of our
veterans will be keenly in-
terested in this new
possession.
The attendance at the
Canadian Foresters Dance
held last Friday in the Legion
Auditorium was low due
mainly' to our sudden weather
change. In spite of that,
however, those who attended
enjoyed a very good evening;
and we hope to see you back
again,, under better con-
ditions.
Just a few reminders to our
members and prospective
guests. Our membership"
draw is becoming more and
more interesting as each
week passes; it hasn't been
won for four weeks now, so,
come and register before
Friday each week so' that
you'll be eligible for the draw.
Further to that and still on
ways and means, Comrade
board up. There's not frn ch
time left to get your tickets,
as the draw will be held on
Saturday December 17th.
Comrade Harvey has his
New Years Tickets available
at the bar, a real good deal
this year. Tickets are going
fast so get yours soon. On
Friday December 2 any
tickets left become available
to the public.

The- hilarious "Kings" arc
billed 'as the funniest
basketball team in America.
They will be at Central Huron
on December 7 to play a team
from our school, You can be
ready for an evening of en-
tertainment when the Kings
play. The team will put on a
show of fancy razzle-dazzle,
ball handling, intricate
routines, both planned and
impromptu comedy, and all
sorts of shenanigans that
delight the fans.
The Kings are unique in
-that they don't run up huge
scores against opponents, but
rather devote most of the
game time to comedy stuff,
and ball handling routines.
With a strong home team the
game can become exciting as
well as the usual comical
entertainment.
Past experience with
similar comedy basketball
teams has shown us that
everyone has a great time at
these games. Don't forget to
come out and watch the game
on December 7, Help the
school raise money and in
return you will have a fun
time that you will not soon
forget.
