(News -Record photo) Six percent salary adjustments the rule for the county It appears the county 'is .attempting to reach salary negotiations around the six per cent guidelines set down by the Anti -Inflation board. At Friday's meeting in the county chambers, Goderich, councillors saw several salary -adjustments proposed 6 by the various committees, ,and endorsed them all. The county planning department received in- creases for two planners of $1,118 each effective January 1, 1978. One planner is now at $19,786 and the other at $18,616. A planning technician received $728 per annum more, bringing his salary to $12,740. Two field workers with the Social Services Committee received six per cent in- creases - one $780 per annum to $13,520 and one $624 per annum to $11,232. , Non-unionsuperv.isarystaff at Huro`nview, incltxdln'g fhe' assistant administrator, the recreation director, the food supervisor, the nursing director, the housekeeping supervisor, the chief engineer, the stockkeeper and all registered nurses' received an extra $32 bi- weekly, an average increase of six per cent. Also at Huronview, the operating engineers got an increase of 32 cents per hour bringing their salary to $6.67 per hour and service em- ployees in all categories received an increase of 30 cents per hour. The property committee granted the chief custodian at the court house an extra $33 bi-weekly to $587 every two weeks. The chief custodian, Jim Sheardown, is due to retire on January 19, 1978. A new salary schedule has been adopted for the county custodians effective January i! 1, 1978. Custodial staff will start at $9,100 go to $9,360 after three months; $10,140 after a year; $10,790 after two years; and $11,440 after three ,Years. k'The county weed inspector received an increase of 20 *cents an hour to $5.10 ef- fective 'Januar 1, 1978 and the tree commissioners are paid $4.95 per hour with a $306 retainer going to the chief tree commissioner. Library staff received increases too., The children's librarian received a 40 cent per hour increase to $7.40; the Goderich Branch Supervisor goes from $9,802 per annum to $10,322 per annum; Branch Supervisor l goes from $3.85 per hour to $4.05 per hour; Branch Supervisor 11 .goes from $4.45 per hour to $4.70 ; 8 WEEKLY STORY HOUR at Clinton eublic,School For Preschoolers and mothers. Commencing TIDES., DEC. 6 • 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. and other branch staff go from $3.70 per hour to $3.90. The salary for the van driver =ncreases from $4 per hour to $4.25 and the headquarters caretaker receives an extra $10 per month to $190. A salary schedule for a library technician was adopted at $8,320 to start; $8,502 after one year with regular increases each year to $10,322 after five years. Non-union secretarial staff effective January 1, 1978 in Group 1 go from $7,540 to $7,852 minimum and from $9,100 to $9,464 maximum. There are five groups for non- union secretarial staff. Group V go from $9,854 to $10,244 minimum and from $11,414 to $11,882 maximum. The salaries of the director of nursing and the director of public health inspection were also aejusted. Each received a six per cent increase bringing the salary from $18,018 per annum to $19,11.0 per annum each. The salary adjustments for all department heads are treated separately from other staff but jointly in a special report. Father sells son winning $500 ticket In a rare occurance, Steven Boussey of Clinton was sold the winning $500 ticket in the annual Clinton Lions Grey Cup draw by his father, Guss Boussey. Steve had the correct final score of East 41, West to win the big prize. Pat Palmer of Clinton, with a ./ score of East 30, West 6, won $ 75 on a ticket sold by Beecher Menzies. Walter Hoffman of Clinton ti with a,half-time score ticket of Ea§f-,10, West 3, won $50 on a ticlee;''sold by > ed Garon, and Charles Snell of Bayfield won $25' for the first quarter score cf East 3, West 0 on a ticket sold by Stewart Mid- dleton. The Credit Union is paying out $665,502 to shareholders and borrowers this year, up from the $457,613 paid last year. Total assets jumped over $3 million to $13,657,577 in the year ending on September 30, up from $10,401,429 of last year; while membership Ostomy Group The Goderich and area Ostomy group will meet on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room at Wingham Hospital. The meeting will be hosted by Gwen North of Outpatient Services. It wil include general discussion.
