Greeters were Clara Riley and Nelson McClure and ushers were Bob Hunking, Wayne Riley, Mark Mitchell and Bob Thompson. Ruth Shaddick "fed the choir and Louise McGregor was the organist. Clerk of the session, Margaret Whyte invited the parents to present their children to Rev. McDonald for baptism. They were: Leisa Maye, daughter of Jim and Sheila Thompson and Bradley Edmund James, son of Murray and Donna Walsh, The children's story was on *baptism and the junior teachers were Helen Lee and Barbara Bosman. 6 UCW general meeting There was a good turnout at the UCW general business meeting held on November 14. President Helen Lawson welcomed all and opened the meeting. Minutes of the September meeting were read by secretary Doreen Carter. Correspondence was received from the Londesboro Lions Club with a card of thanks from president Brad Kennedy for the UCW ladies catering to the Lions charter night. A thank -you was also received from Myrtle Fairservice and Edythe Beacom. An in- vitation was received from the Blyth UCW to attend their bazaar on November 19. Hattie Wood gave the treasurer's report and gave a balance of $2,250.25. A donation of $1,500 was given for new bathroom equipment in the manse. The 1978 mission and services fund will be $ 800. The next UCW meeting will be held on December 5 with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. Ladies are asked to bring a friend and there will be a white elephant table with, Joan Whyte and Margaret Whyte in charge. Representatives on the church nominating com- mittee are Margaret Whyte from the Berian Unit and Betty Hulley from the Armwell Unit. Dora Shobbrook reported that 62 get well cards, 19 sympathy, six baby cards and one rose and bud vase had been. sent. Mary Longman reported on, one funeral lunch and Mrs. Shobbrook reported on buying. Laura Lyon reported that clothes were sent to Heather Gardens in Vanastra, Goodwill in London and on display were six crib quilts, 22 scarves and 19 pairs of mitts, whii'zh will be sent to the Hazelton Hospital in BC. Brenda Radford gave the social committee report and noted that two after meeting luncheons, four wedding dinners and seven banquets were prepared and served. Grade 8 trip • Monday, November 14 the i'rade 8 class went by bus to the Huron Pioneer Museum in;Goderich. The purpose of the trip was to see how the people lived in Pioneer Days and also helped with school projects. This trip proved to be both educational and enjoyable. Constable Wilson by all. Cheerio club The Cheerio members held their November meeting on November 16 at the home of Margaret Good. Margaret acted as chairman and welcomed everyone with a poem. Ida Durnin read a story and the minutes of the last meeting where given by secretary Gladys Armstrong. The treasurer's report showed $69.88 on hand and a thank you was read from .Edythe Beacom. Roll call was answered with a current event by nine members and one visitor, Kay Longman. The next meeting will be held on January 18 with group three in charge. It was moved to send $10 to the Christmas Seal Fund and. $10 to ARC Industries in Dashwood. A get well card was signed and sent to Tri Duizer, a member who is in hospital and a Christmas card was sent to Ida Town - 1 • send, a member at Huron - view. Margaret conducted a contest, the meetipg was then closed, and some games of cards were played. Lunch was served by Margaret Good, Ida Durnin and Laura Lyon. Personals Sympathy is exten ed to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Joh Ston on the death of her fa her, Carl McNee of Belmore, on Monday, November i4. Mrs. Airie Duizer was admitted to Clinton Public Hospital on November 15. Mrs. Jack Armstrong was admitted to Seaforth Com - .m unity Hospital on November 17. Mr. and Mrs. John Pollard returned home on November 15 after spending two weeks with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Glover at Prince Edward Island. Mrs. Pollard's sister, Mrs. Agnes Roads of Stratford spent the two weeks with Tom, Ken and Sally. Dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hunking on Sunday, following the baptism of their grandson Bradley Edmund James, were Murray and Donna Walsh, the parents. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walsh, Blyth, the grandparents, Mrs. Sarah Anderson and Mrs. Idy Cook, Belgrave, great- grandmothers; Don Walsh, Blyth, an uncle; Annie Cook and Norma Nethery, Belgrave and Rev. McDonald of Londesboro. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hamilton of Moorefield spent the weekend with their daughter, Mr, and Mrs. Bob Thompson. Mr. George Neil and granddaughter Paula Crummer of Stratford visited on Sunday with Miss Edythe Beacom and Mrs. Laura Lyon. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Alexander spent a „couple of days last week at the T2byal Winter Fair and visited in Toronto. Norman attended the Soil Conservation of America meeting, held at Embro. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shob- brook were honored on Sunday at a surprise party in the Clinton Legion Hall on their 48th wedding an- niversary. Their family gave r them the party and 29 were present to enjoy the occasion. Those attending included, Ron and Thelma Ellerby and family, ',Ross and Muriel Millson and family, Gordon and Darlene Shobbrook and family, Robert and Valerie Miller and Marsha, Vicki and Danny Colquhoun and family, and Joan Garrow.
