The meeting opened with a hymn followed by prayer by Diana Harrison. Philippians, Chapter 4, verses 3 to 9 were read in unison. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Gladys Talbot and were approved as read. The meeting s next week were announced as follows: the group was in- vited to join the Exeter ladies at the Exeter Baptist church, Tuesday, November 15th and was to supply one musical number. Muriel Snider agreed to play a piano solo; Thursday evening the Goderich ladies invited this group to their meeting and again to bring a musical number. This was left for Diana Harrison to look after. The next regular meeting is to be held at the home of Janet Talbot and will be the Christmas meeting. After the business had all been taken care of the meeting was turned over to the speaker. Due to technical difficulty, she could not show the slides she had prepared but gave a very interesting message on her work and some of the dangers encountered and a great many of the joys, in things accomplished through the Lord. She also told of some of the tragedies, such as the fact that when a pair of twins is born it is a very sad time for the parents and if it is at all possible, one of them is destroyed, of course if one or both were girls, that doubled the danger, especially so • if it is the first birth in the family. She said girls and women are treated with greater respect now and many are allowed to work in offices or factories. She also told of some of the more humorous things, such as they just didn't think there should be such a thing as a single missionary and cer- tainly the mission field was no place for a single woman, but she knew this was God's plan for her. She told of once being the only Missionary at Village social n"otes Mrs. Sandra Talbot, Mrs. 4 Bonnie Talbot and Mrs. Diana Harrison spent Friday in -London. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Talbot, Deanna and Marshal of St. Thomas spent the weekend at Port Elgin and called at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norm Talbot and also at his brother's Mr. and Mrs. Bill Talbot, Karen and Kathy, Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Norm Talbot spent Monday in Woodstock visiting his aunt, Mrs. Pearl Workman "and spent the evening with his cousins Mr. and Mrs. John Ort. the Compound and someone died. In India when a person dies they must be buried the same day so they asked her to take the funeral service. She had never (lone this before and wasn't sure what she should do, but the worst part was that it was the dry season and the ground was very hard and so it took them till late at night to get the grave ready. However, she did it and there were no complaints. We here have no idea of the hardshipsand frustrations that they have to face and we are only asked to pray and to share, as we are all equal in Christ. The president, Phyllis Nicholson, thanked the speaker and the meeting was closed by prayer. A lovely lunch was prepared by Bonnie Talbot assisted by her sister Sandra Talbot.
