Notes and quotes •from
Cross Country held at Hullett
Conservation Area, over the 2
mile course, last Wednesday.
"At cross country I liked
the running and competing
against other schools. I also
liked meeting new friends
from other schools who co-
operated with us." Cindy
Renner, grade 6.
"Well, the day finally
came. After a month of
grunting and groaning, I was
on the bus and turning in a
bumpy laneway into a spot
sheltered by trees in the
Hullett Conservation Area.
We walked around the course
and got ideas on how to save a
few steps. The start of the
race began with a burst of
energy which lasted about
one hundred feet. After about
a mile, I had passed two
runners. I lost my shoe in the
mud once, but managed to
keep my position. The last
half mile was the hardest
because I was worn out and
got a cramp. I still held my
place and came in 33 out out
of 40. The track was kind of
muddy but otherwise the,
grunts and groans from
exercises paid off because 1;,.
was able to finish the course
and know that I'nz not quite
the slowest runner in. the
area." - Barry Turner, grade
7
"I liked cross country
because there was a good
long run and lots of par-
ticipation." Mark Cantelon,
grade 6.
"I liked cross. country. It
was fun. I enjoyed running
around our school yard for
practice and doing exercises
in the gym. I didn't like the
mud and puddles to well but
the day was fun." - Jo -Anne
Grunewald., grade 5.
"The thing I liked about the
cross country was that there
were no cliffs and sand like
Point Farms last year. I
didn't like the mud this year
which made the race seem
longer that the 1st year." -
Sherry Chuter, grade 6.
"I liked running in the race

we got afterwards. I didn't
like the mud too much but we

matter too much." - Kim
Hayter, grade 3.

course and it was fun to run."

good place to have it next

muddy." Leonard Teatero,

This year was , really fun." -

"I liked the course. It was
better than Point Farms. I
didn't like when I got trip-
ped." - Darin Telford, grade
7,
"I enjoyed the cross
country meet but it was too
muddy. I think that our school
did okay. Like they say, you
can't win all the time," -
Sylvia Wood, grade 8.
"I didn't like the mud but I
liked the race and the bus
ride." Roxanne Martin,
grade 3.
