The stone wall at the St.
Marys Library is being
repaired. The St. Marys
Journal Argus reported that
the sagging wall around the
library will have to be taken
apart piece by piece.
It's now lying in a pile on
the sidewalk in front of the
IP building but the masons
assure that it will be com-
pleted within two weeks.
The rainy weather has not
only slowed the farmer's
productionin the area, but
has also affected construction
and building.
The Exeter Times -
Advocate reported that the
building of the new Bjg 0 Tile
•Company headquarters has
been hampered by the
weather. The building is
situated on Highway 83, just
east of Highway 4 in Exeter.
According to the vice-
president of marketing the
rain has put construction
about three weeks behind
schedule.
The new plant will be 100
feet by 150 feet. Out of this
9,000 squre feet will be used
as a warehouse and service
facilities and 6,000 square feet
will contain office space.
Initially the building will
employ about 25 persons,
some of these are present
employees that will be
relocated.
Taffy, a dog from Exeter,
was the first visitor at the
new Zurich veterinary clinic.
10The Zurich Citizens News
explained that Taffy, who
was in for surgery, was the
sole occupant of the kennels.
The new clinic has kennel
space for four cats and six
dogs and eventually this
`space will be doubled.
Veterinarians Doug Theil,
Garnet Leitch and Wes Coxon
will operate the clinic which
41 has an x-ray room,
vp
examination room, operating
room, a waiting room,
pharmnacy, surgical
preparation room and
waiting room.
According to the Citizens
News, it is one of the most up-
to-date clinics around. It will
surely have the facilities to
cure Taffy's ailment as well
as other ailing animals.
Following an earlier
refusal by Tuckersmith
council to contribute the
requested $1,500 to the
Seaforth arena fund, $eaforth.
council has decided not to ask
the township to reconsider its
decision.
The Huron Expositor ex-
plained that the contribution
was based on the number of
residents who use the arena.
However, Seaforth recieved
correspondence from
Tuckersmith noting that they
would not pay that amount.
Tuckersmith offered a $500
donation, but Seaforth
refused it out of fairness to
other townships who would be
paying the full price.
Council decided to drop the
matter of the contribution
and continue to charge
Tuckersmith residents a $15
surcharge for involvement in
organized sports in the arena.
The Mitchell Advocate
reported that OPP Constable
Diane Brock of Sebringville
will be awarded the bravery
medal after rescuing a
motoroist from a burning car
last June.
Constable Brock is among
eight Canadians to be
awarded a Medal of Bravery
on the 22nd list of bravery
decorations.
The incident for which she
will be honored occurred in
June 1976 when Const. Brock
rescued a motorist from a
burning car at Rannoch,
Ontario: She saw the car
travelling at high speed and
gave chase over a. distance of
13 miles. During the high
speed chase, the motorist of
the pursued vehicle lost
control and the car over-
turned in a ditch and burst'
into flames.
The Constable attempted
to extinguish the flames but
they continually flared up. So
she had to free the unconsious
victim from the burning
vehicle.
Evelyn Kennedy, editor of
The Brussels Post com-
mented on the possibilities of
a federal penitentiary in the
village.
She explained that there
will probably be opposition by
some nervous people of the
community: However, as
consolation she noted that if
anyone did escape, there
would be little cause for
concern. She figures that in a
place the size of Brussels, any
escaped criminal would
want 'to get out of the area as
fast and as far away as he
could.
Goderich council agreed by
a recorded vote to begin the
steps to expropriate 2.98
acres of land which is needed
to carry Suncoast Drive

It's been a traditionally
known fact that libraries
offer books, but the libraries
of today offer much more
than the selection of printed
materials.

library that offers a variety of
services and needs. Along
with books, the library has a
