report that Darcy Andrews is
a patient in Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital.
He is wished a speedy
recovery.

Toronto is visiting this week
with his aunt, Mrs. Elva

patient in Clinton Public
hospital. She is wished a

Unit One of the Knox United
Church Women took as their
theme, "Bread" when they
met last Tuesday, evening in
the Sunday School room of the
'church. Mrs. Earl St. Jean
gave the history of bread
going back to Egyptian times
(7000 B.C.) She told of the
religious significance of
bread and read a poem. The
scripture lesson was from
Jo n 6;1-14 and:.,25`-34 verses.
Mrs. St. Jean and Mrs.
Thomas. ".Lawlor demon-
strating the technique of
bread art, made roses. Mrs.
John Durnin presided for the
business and Mrs. Lawrence
Plaetzer read the minutes.
Mrs. Durnin thanked Mrs. St.
Jean and Mrs. Lawlor for
their part in the meeting.
Plans were made for the
next meeting, Mrs. Stanley
Ball and Mrs. Randy Machan
will be in charge. Cleaning
the church for November was
discussed and articles for the
• bazaar are to be finished
soon. Fruit bread, tea and
coffee were served by 'the
hostesses.
CHURCH NEWS
Knox. United Church held
their Anniversary service
last Sunday with Rev. Robert
Hiltz as special speaker. Mr.
Ron Fleming was guest
soloist and special music was
supplied by the choir under
the direction of the church
organist Mrs. Norman
Wightman. Mr. Hiltz spoke on
the Living Presence using the
Book of Daniel tent. From 35
years of ministry he drew
easily from a wealth of ex-
perience. He posed the
question, Do we really accept
Jesus Christ as a Living
Presence and do we see any
day-to-day meaning in -
underneath are the
Everlasting Arms?
A large congregation was
_present and a coffee time was
held in the Sunday school
room of the church following
the service so that all could
renew friendships with their
former minister and his wife.
The Sunday school room and
•,, lobby were resplendent with
hew carpeting. Mr: and Mrs.
-Hiltz called on former friends
in the afternoon before going
to Exeter and London.

The Bible study group
begins on Sunday October 23
at 10 a.m. A welcome is ex-
tended to anyone who wants
to share in a layman's study
group.
The Young People of Knox
United Church have a project
for Christmas which requires
funds. They are planning a
sale of good used clothing for
October 29. Anyone wishing to
donate .please leave at the
church, or the manse.
The UCW Fall Thankof-
fering meeting is to be held on
Sunday, October 23 at 8 p.m.

St. Andrews Presbyterian
Church in Thorold was at-
tractively decorated when
Gordon Wayne Powell of
Auburn and Marie Jeannette
Martin of Thorold exchanged
wedding vows in a double -
ring ceremony before Rev.
E.H. Hunter of Niagara Falls.
The groom is the eldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Powell of Auburn and the
bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Martin of
Thorold.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride looked lovely
in a floor length gown of white
polyester crepe covered with
lace in daisy designs and
featuring a V -neckline. She
wore a short veil decorated
with daisies. She carried a V-
shaped bouquet of carnations
centred with pink roses.
Miss Vickie Powell,
Auburn, sister of the groom,
was maid of honor. She wore
a long gown of green
polyester embroidered with
flowers. Each frill was
trimmed with lace and she
wore a green picture hat
trimmed with pink roses. She
carried a bouquet of car-
nations and pink roses.
The bridesmaids were Mrs.
William Audit and Mrs.
James Audit of Port
Colborne, sisters of the bride.
They were gowned alike in
long gowns of blue polyester
crepe 'and wore blue picture
hats. They carried a similar
bouquet to,the maid of honor,
The flower girl, Connie
Martin of Cambridge, niece
of the•bride wore a long gown
of lime green polyester crepe
trimmed• with lace. She
carried a small similar
nosegay and wore a matching
headdress.
The groomsman was Karl
Boergmann of St. Lambert,
Quebec, friend of the groom
and the ushers were . Bob
Powell of Auburn, brother of
the groom and Rolland
Martin of Thorold, brother of
the bride. The ringbearer was
Kevin Powell of Auburn,
brother of the groom.
The groom wore a white
tuxedo trimmed with black,
and the other attendants wore
light blue tuxedos trimmed
with blue velvet. All -wore red
rose boutonnieres.
Following the wedding
ceremony, a reception took
place at the A1l•anburg
Community Centre where the
bride's mother assisted the
bridal party receiving the
guests. She wore a long gown
of pink salmon crimpolene
white accessories and a
corsage of white baby mums
and roses. She was assisted
by the groom's mother
wearing a long gown of yellow
polyester sheer over taffeta,
gold accessories and a cor-
sage of white baby mums and
roses.
Guests were present at the
wedding from London,
Auburn, Dungannon,
Goderich, Montreal, Thorold,
Port Colborne, Welland,
Wingham and Moncton, N.B.
For a wedding trip to
Niagara Falls and London,
the bride changed to a red
jumpsuit with navy ac-
cessories . and a -;corsage of
white roses. The groom wore
a brown suit trimmed with
gold buttons and a red rose in
his lapel. The newlyweds
are residing at 17 Collier
Street, Apt. 25, St.
Catharines.

Wally and Florence Seldon of Exeter and Dr. Cowan were among the weekend browsers
and shoppers that visited the new Huronastra Flea Market located in Vanastra. The
market which will feature mainly antique items will be open each Saturday and Sunday.

1 tsp rosemary
1/4 cup ofdealxohollzed white wine
1/2 cup cream
METRIC MEASURE
2 kilogram•approx loin of pork
1 clove garlic
5 ml. salt
5 mI. rosemary
60 ml. dealcohollzed white wine
120 ml cream
Rub the loin of pork with garlic until it is well flavoured, Place
the meat in a saucepan and sprinkle with salt artd rosemary.
Roast, in a 325° (162°C) oven according to time indicated in the
roasting chart.
When the meat is.cooked, remove from the saucepan, skim off ,
the excess fat from the gravy and add the white wine and cream.,
Stir over low heat, scraping the bottom. Avoid boiling,
Serve with roasted potatoes and buttered spinach. .
