McDonald was guest speaker at Donegal's 113th anniversary on Sunday morning. Greeters were Margaret Whyte and Jack Lee and ushers were Bryan McClure, Darrell Shobbrook and Tom and Ken Pollard. Louise McGregor was the organist and Ruth Shaddick led the choir. 'The junior, teachers were Marjorie Duizer, Florence Cartwright and Susan Jamieson. The flowers at the front of the church were in memory of 'Muriel Bell, by her family. On the memoriam stand the flowers were placed in memory of Jack Medd, by his family. Next Sunday, the an- niversary services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Anne Graham -Langford in charge. At the 8 p.m. service, Rev. John Oestreicher will be in charge. Berean Unit The Berean Unit of the UCW held their meeting on Tuesday, October 11 in the,. Sunday School rooms. President Hattie Wood gave a Thanksgiving reading and secretary Nona Pipe read the minutes of the July meeting. The treasurer's report was given by Dora Shobbrook and supply secretary Laura, Lyon reported that a bale is going to be packed. Quilts and knitting will be displayed at the November 14 general meeting. These will be sent to the hospital in Hazelton, B.C. Nona Pipe is to clean the brass for October. Roll call was answered by 12 members on Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday was ;ung to Edythe Beacom, Laura Lyon and Dora Shobbrook. The devotions, worship and program was taken by Edythe Beacom, Laura Lyon and Dora Shobbrook. For the devotions a display on Thanksgiving was set up. It recognised our bounties, first our ',;amily life, our health and our food, grown on our own land. Second is labour, the gift of industry and commerce by factories, stores, mail, firemen, telephones and police. Third was art with gifts of study, painting, pottery and most important is our religion. Hattie Wood thanked the committee for the lovely meeting which was closed with a reading by Edythe Beacom and prayer. Lunch was served by Mary Longman, Isabel Airdrie and Elsie Shaddick. WI Family Affairs The WI Family Affairs meeting was held on October 12 in the hall. The evening 'meeting opened with Genevieve Allen at the piano. President Dora Shobbrook gave a reading and welcomed all the guests, 4-H girls and their mothers. 1 Roll call was something we have learned- from the younger generation was answered by 24 members and 11 guests were present. • After the treasurer's report -was read by Gay Datma, correspondence was given. The group was asked to provide baking for the Huronview Bazaar and bake sale which was held on October 19: Achievement day for the 4-11 "Featuring Fruit" project will be: 'held in the .Blyth Public School on December 10. A short course on using fabrics is to be held in Ethel on November 16. An invitation from Auburn for October 18 at 2 p.m. and an invitation to the Clinton WI on November 24 was received. It was moved to begin having card parties on October 24 at 8:30 p.m. The price is raised to $.75 and ladies are to bring lunch. In charge will be Beth Knox, Jessie Tebbutt and Annie Vincent.,. The ladies will entertain the Clinton and Summerhill WI groups in'November. A bake' auction sale will be held. Addie Hunking gave a report of the London area convention which was held at the Sandpiper Inn at Vanastra on September 28- 29.She also reported on the Huron district meeting held at Lakelet on October 3. Both , repiirts ,Were interesting, and info dative. For ."e program, piano solo' r r*t'e played by Karen Durnin and Nona Pipe gave some readings. Margaret Taylor in- troducted the guest speaker, Beatrice McClen ighan, the Huron County home economist. She divided the ladies into three groups and held a nutrition quiz, She was thanked by Hattie Wood. The 441 girls had their record books on display and some of their sewing. The 4-H leaders and their assistants, Hattie. Snell, Mary Buffinga, Kitty McGregor, Carol Jewitt, Gay Datema and Madelyn Sewers were presented with gifts. Elma Jewitt gave a humorous reading and the meeting came to an end, Lunch was served by Nona Pipe, Ora Riley, Isabel Colson and Jessie Tebbutt. Londesboro I 4-H The Mixed Fruits, Lon- desboro I 4-H club held their third meeting at the home of Susan Wallace.- Roll call asked the .girls to show the labels, samples and pictures of processed fruits and tell one way each is served. Everyone answered .this individually. The discussion was held on frozen, canned and dried fruits The recipe for , the night was peach layer dessert with fruit sauce on it. Meeting four was held at the home of Mary Buffinga on October 5. The roll call for this meeting was to name a new fruit that you learned about in this unit. The girls were asked to bring their ',mothers to . the next WI, meeting at the Londesboro Hall next Wed- nesday. The girls discussed fruits at breakfast, dinn'er, dessert and for snacks. They made oriental chicken and cabbage salad and it was enjoyed by all. Explorers • Expedition Two Lisa Duizer and Marni Gibbings dic ' Elie Explorer emblem which followed the Explorer purpose and song. Cheryl Bromley showed the picture and there were 16 present. On Saturday, the girls decorated the church for Thanksgiving. The girls had a quiz after which they played two games - and made book marks. Cheryl Lyon and Christine Preszcator are on the program at the next meeting: Personals Sympathy is extended to the family of Muriel Bell who passed away on October 12 in Clinton Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns attended the funeral on Sunday of his niece, Joyce Collins of Tiverton, who was killed in a car accident early Thursday. • Sympathy is ex- tended. Marjorie Duizer and Dora Shobbrook attended the WI procedures workshop at Carlow on Thursday, October 13. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Carter and Colleen spent Thanksgiving weekend at Niagara Falls. Mrs. Clare Vincent and Mrs, Don Buchanan spent four days last week in Toronto, , and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mitchell, (Mary Buchanan). Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.. Murray Lee, Robbie and Susan at Ripley. Mr. and Mrs.' Andrew Bremner and Doris of Ethel visited on Sunday with their cousin, Edythe Beacom and Laura Lyon. Herb and Arie Duizer, went to Toronto Airport on Friday with their nephew, Gerrit Duizer, who returned to his home in Holland after spending five weeks here with relatives and motoring to several places of interest here. Anthony Sleevwenhoek, Kitchener, spent the weekend with his aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Arie Duizer. Dora Shobbrook was a guest at a seminar for correspondants, of the Bluewater ' Newspaper Network, held' at the Wesley - Willis United Church in Clinton on October 14. Elsie Shaddick and Mildred McNall were dinner guests of Laura Forbes on Sunday.
