Open House Mr. and Mrs. Ray• Cox opened their home in honor of their daughter, Sheryl Cox on Tuesday, October 4 who will marry Doug Trewartha on Saturday, October 15. Mrs. Cox, assisted by her sister Reva Wilson, with Pat Hemingway, a sister of the bride, presented all the shower gifts and a collection of the articles that Sheryl has saved over the years. Refreshments were served by the hostess and her co - hostess, Reva Wilson. The community would like to offer their good wishes to Doug arid Sheryl as they start their new life together. ',1006';%1=1 A cheque for $1,000 was given to the Clinton Legion Pipe Band during special ceremonies during a Scottish night held at the Legion last Saturday night. The Legion Ladies Auxiliary gave $500, while the men's branch gave the other half, to be used to finance a trip to the Rose Bowl Parade in California this Christmas. (News -Record photo) This week at the Legion Scottish Here is a recap of last weekends activities. Last Friday night saw both the lower lounges and auditorium busy. While TGIF was being enjoyed in the lower lounges with a rousing sing song, ,a wedding anniversary was being enjoyed in - ,the auditorium when Mr. and Mrs. Elden O'Brien celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Attending were daughters Diane, Jean, Donna and Margaret, as well as sons Lyle and Basil. Many other relatives were in attendance and the hall was filled to capacity with friends of; the family. Margaret deserves much credit for organizing a very pleasant time for all. On Saturday night, the Legion sponsored a Scottish Ceiledh and dance, a first in Huron County. The evening was organized by the Clinton Legion Pipe Band, who filled the hall to capacity. Many entertainers were present ' and Master of Ceremonies John Stevely introduced the 'program. Entertainers were our own Bradley Family, along with Scottish, dancers Fran Brady and Karen McGregor. Nelson Howes provided fiddle accompaniment for'the step dancing Finleyson Sisters from -• Kippen and Gordon and Grace Ross from Ethel on accordion and guitar provided music and song of a Scottish, flavor.
