Board chairman Irving Kleiman, RR 1 Simcoe, said the payment applies to wheat sold by Ontario producers l)t.lv,ccn July 1, 1976 and June r30, 1977. Kleiman said the, final payment was establishd' at a hoard meeting held , Sep -tember.7; at whith time the' hoard',s 1976 audited financial statement was received. • He said the final payment of $25.72 per tonne will bring the total price received by producers for last year's crop to $114.27 per tonne, the equi"valentof $3,11 per bushel. Under the pooling system, producers received a basic 1976 initial payment of $2 per bushel, plus a 41c per bushel interim payment, and the final payment just announced will complete payments for last year's crop. By comparison,' the 1976 crop total price is about ,52c per `bushel less than the previous year's total, reflecting substantial decreases in world wheat prices' during the past two years. His discovery changed the course of world events. His name is deservedly honored in history. Columbus ventured Into uncharted seas, disregar- ding the advice of supposedly (earned men, because he had faith in God, faith in his own convictions, and faith in his capabilities as a navigator. His spirit was un- conquerable. He persevered in the face of over- whelming difficulties. It is fitting that America annually renders tribute to the memory of the famed Genoese explorer on the an- niversary of hilt historic voyage. 1 hereby designate in accordance with this tradition, "Columbus Week" Commencing Monday, October 10, 1977 1 urge our citizens to observe this week in a manner that will dramatize and restate the fundamental prin- ciples of faith, wisdom and courage which guided the footsteps of the Great Discoverer.
