(News -Record photo) Fortner Clinton area Hydro manager dies Arthur Morven Knight, who served as manager of the Clinton area Hydro Office for 38 years died c'n Friday, September 30. Mr. Knight, who had been ill for the past five years, was 75 years old. He was well-known around Clinton through his work and involvement in different organizations. He was a member of the Clinton Public Hospital board for .20 years and he served for a number of years on the school, board. Mr. Knight was the secretary of the Clintrni Turf Club from 1943 - 1961 and belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Ontario Street United Church and served -on the board there. Mr. Knight was active during the construction of the RCAF training station and remained very involved with it, during and following the war. He was also a keen breeder of trotters and created a considerable in- terest in the ,sport which is still evident in the town. Mr. Knight was born on August 13, 1902 in Sylvan, Ontario to Robert and Mary Knight. He attended elementary school and `high school in Parkhill and also lived in Kitchener and Mit- chell befdre moving to Clinton in•1929. He became a member in the Association of Professional Engineers in August 1938 and was em- ployed with Ontario for 42 years. Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, the former Meulalia Lou, whom he married in 1927. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Irene Park of Parkhill and one brother, Phillip of Parkhill. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 3 at the:, Ball's Funeral Home with Rev. John Oestreicher and Rev. Norman Pick in charge. Interment followed at the Sylvan Cemetery in Sylvan. Pallbearers were Leonard Arnston, Lorne " Brown, George Lavis, Arnold Dale, Paul Wheeler and Roy Wheeler all of Clinton. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. George Elliott, Fred Elliott, Brock Olde,' Elliott Bartliff, Stewart Middleton, George Walker and William Gardner of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Roy hosted a party at McDonald's Restaurant in Stratford for Doug and several of his friends in honour of his 8th birthday on Friday, Sep- tember 23. They were favourably impressed with the service ' they received, Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Hayter are the happy grandparents of a -little girl, Elizabeth Janine (Jan), born to Glenn and Lois on Sep- tember 26. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker of Brandon., Manitoba, who have been visiting his brother 1Norman in Bayfield, spent a day with Mrs. Laura Keys on two separate occasions while they were here. Mrs. Wal is Laura's cousin. Lau grand -daughters, Laurie and Gayle, spent Friday night and Saturday with her. Mr. and Mrs, Harvey Hayter both had surgery last r s Clinton I, 4-H club meets Meeting four of the Clinton 1 4-H club, the Coconut Cuties was held on Monday October 3 at the home of Barb Forbes. Everyone went to the kitchen where Mrs. Brandon started to prepare "Oriental Chicken" the chicken was left to cook and everyone went hack to the livingroom where Mrs. Boughen discussed "Fruit the day round" "Breakfast" "Lunch and Dinner" "For the main course" "As an ac- companiment" ''For Dessert" Fruit Snacks". ' Mrs. Boughen then discussed the home assign- ment for meeting four on "planning two dinner menus" and "the information collected to present." From the assignments which were given out at meeting three were read. Julie told about cra-n- berries, Diane about currants, Brenda about grapes, Lorrie about strawberries, Missy and Linda about raspberries, Cheryl about rhubarb. Everyone then went back to the kitchen to finish the "Oriental Chicken." We then divided into two teams and had a quiz while waiting for the chicken. The "Oriental Chicken" was then served. Mrs. Boughen then demonstrated "how to frost grapes and glasses" The next meeting is Monday October 17, at Julie Taylor's.—by Julie,Taylor. week, Harvey in Clinton Hospital on Thursday, and Maureen in Victoria Hospital, London, on Friday.
