WI meets
The . world affairs
meeting of Kippen east
Women's Institute was held
at the home of Mrs. Ernest
Whitehouse on September 26
with Mrs. Grant MacLean in
charge of the meeting.
Mrs. MacLean gave a very
interesting story on the life of
the Queen as well as a history
of the Commonwealth.
The judges of the scrap
books on the Queen's Silver
Jubilee were Mrs. Ross
13roadfoot and Mrs. Robert.
Bell. Mrs. Bell exhibited the
winning book which proved to
be Mrs. Al Hoggarth's. The
judges and Mrs. Hog.garth
were presented with gifts by
Mrs. Grant MacLean.
Mrs. Grace Drummond,
South Huron District
president, brought greetings
from the District and en-
couraged members to par-
ticipate in the various ac-
tivities of the Institute.
Mrs. Al Hoggarth,
president, chaired the
business portion of the
meeting. It was decided to
give $100 to the Hensall Arena
fund and to donate the
proceeds from the white
elephant auction to the blind.
Delegates to the Area Con-
vention at Vanastra' will be
Mrs. Al Hoggarth and
alternate, Mrs, M. Connolly.
Delegates to the Rally at
Howick Community Centre
will be Mrs. R. Kinsman,
Mrs. G. Drummond, Mrs. M.
Connolly.
Mrs. Harold Parsons gave
the treasurer's report and
conducted a contest. Mrs. G.
Drummond gave a reading on
an Amish Wedding and Mrs.
Harry Caldwell gave the
motto on "Friendship is the
cement that holds the world
together Mrs. Campbell
Eyre and Mrs. Harry Cald-
well assisted the hostesses,
Mrs.. Alex McGregor ' and
Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse with
lunch.
UCW meets-
The_first meeting of the fall
term of the UCW of St.
Andrew's Church, Kippen,
was held on Tuesday, Sep-
tember 20 in the church. Mrs.
Percy Wright gave ' the
worship.

recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. W.L. Mellis.

Margaret Hutchison last

We are pleased to report
that Mrs. Seldon Ross has
returned home affter having
surgery in Clinton Hospital.
Mr. Fred Burdge is visiting •
with his, son and family in
Barrie while other members
of his family are on vacation.
Rev. Stewart Miner,
Exeter, occupied the pulpit of
Brucefield United Church on
Sunday morning in the ab -
sense of Rev. E.S. Stephens,
with Mr. Bob Wilson at the
organ.
Congratulations are' in
order from Brucefield and
community to Mr. and Mrs.
Mel Graham, who celebrated
their ~ 25th anniversary on
Saturday night.
Guests with Mrs. H. Berry
on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs.
Hartley Smith of Tjllsonburg
and Mrs. Edgar of Win,gham.
The bowling committee
who met. at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Pepper, were Mr.
Aldie Mustard, Mr. Cliff
Henderson and Mr. William
Pepper.
Sacraments will be held in
Brucefield Church next
Sunday and on October 23 the
Baptism service will be held.
Mr. Wesley Ham and son
Robert of Huntsville were
recent guests of Mr. Ham's
mother, Mrs, A. Ham and his
aunt, Miss M.E. Swan.
