This meeting will be held on Thursday, October 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Vanastra Christian Church. The pur- pose of the meeting is to look at "What's happening" and "What's possible in the community". Over the summer months, *the Centre continued to operate each Thursday morning, Surnmer hors ,wwere from 10 a.m. to noon. Things moved slowly as many people were away for summer vacations etc. With =the coming of September, the entre is back in full operation. Doors open at 9 a.m. each Thursday morning and close at noon. Each week, there will be scheduled programs as well as time for topics and issues from the floor: Several ,suggestions `' have already been put forward for the fall program. Plans are being made for, a film program using National Film Board films on a variety of subjects. Further time needs to be spent on the community library that is being established. There are continued landlord -tenant matters requiring action by the community. Vanastra now has a school and many parents have ex- pressed a desire to establish a good working relationship * with the school. There have Siso been concerns expressed egarding policing in the community as well as interest in the OPP Home Security program. It is hoped that time will be devoted to these ;,M two matters in the fall. These are but a few of the subjects to be dealt with. It is hoped that through the public « meeting more areas will be brought forward for discussion and action. There are also several projects the Centre has been working on. These will be reported on at the public meeting on October 6th. i Vanastra is a large com- munity with many needs and few present resources. Much is possible through com- munity action. The means for this action is available through the Resource Centre and if is hoped as many of the community as possible will become actively involved. They still have a few left so if anyone didn't get one, please call Mrs. Thomas at 482-9467, The price of, the calendars is 75 cents each.. - This Sunday, October 2nd, will be a special church service at the Vanastra Church at 7:30 p.m: in memory of the World Chief Guide, Lady Olave Baden- Powell.
