Mrs. Arthur was visited this week by Mr. and Mrs. Grant Arthur, Graham and Mar- jorie Arthur, 'Susan Lynn Arthur, and Cliff Arthur. Visitors with Mrs. Kendrick were Susan and 'Nancy ' Durand,' Steven Kendrick, Ss. Illeen Flannigan, fred and Ruth Schantz, 'Mr. and Mrs. Morley Hall, her daughters Ruth Durand and Alice Kendrick and son Steven Kendrick. 'Visitors with Russell Erratt were Helen and Bill Taylor, Lee and Ann McConnell, Joyce Boussey, his wife Pearl Arratte, Mrs. Pearson, Percy and Clara Johnston; visitors with Mrs. Irene Kalbfleisch were Joan Bettridge, Violet Bishop; and visitors with Vera Lammie were Elmer and Hazel Dunn, Ilia Dunn, Mervyn and Irene Dunn. Roberta and Mary Neil, Josie Ryckman, Howard and Marion Johns visited Mrs. Mabel Johns; visitors with ouise Mitchell were Mrs.. El Josie Ryckman, Leslie Mitchell Mrs, Jennie Lawson, Mrs. .G. George Anderson accompanied by Louise Mitchell at the piano. WMS Carmel Church The WMS of Carmel Presbyterian Church com- menced their fall meetings on Monday evening with president Mrs. Harvey Hyde presiding, Mrs. Glenn Poll and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor were in charge of the devotional, with prayer by Bertha MacGregor. Mrs. Rochus Faber read the scripture, and Mrs. Bell gave a most interesting message on "The Five Talents". Mrs. Edith Bell and Mrs. Sylvia Bell favoured with two musical numbers on the niann and guitar, Mrs. Hyde presided ';over the business when an in- vitation was accepted to the anniversary of the Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary- on Sep- tember 28th at 8 p,m. The next meeting will be held on October 3rd at 2 •p.m. The Ladies' Aid meeting followed with Mrs. Clarence presiding. A' card of thanks was ` received from Mrs. Troyer, and it was decided to hold a Bazaar' on Saturday November 5th. The Treasurer Mrs.'H•yde gave the financial report and Mrs. Volland gave the card report. Dr'. Fox of the University of Western Ontario conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian recently. Mrs. Robert Taylor presided at the organ leading in the service of song. -I- +1 - Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer McGregor of Sault Ste Marie visited this week with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McClinchey and also with the, former's mother, Mrs. William McGregor at Kippen. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Wheeler of Detroit spent a few days visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Munn. Goderich Twp. issues permits Eight building permits - were issued by Goderich Township Council when they met on September 6. The building, permits had been 'requested by Don Lobb for house renovations, Delbert Cook for garage additions, Robert Sinclair for a grain bin, Lighthouse Cove for washrooms, G. H. Stirling for a silo, Renno Dubler for house _additions, R. E. Blackstone for cottage additions and Sklfons Wick for house demolition. All members of township council were present at the meeting. Clinton I, 4-11 club also discussed "Ontario Fresh Fruits," "imported fresh fruits," "inspection and grading," "selection," "varities, "apples," "peaches, "pears;" "plums," "other fruits," and "using fresh fruits". They also discussed and tasted some uncommon fruits and talked about their origins. Then several girls par- ticipated in • making fresh fruit cup, baked apples, and fresh plum -peach compote. The meeting began with all of the members answered the roll call, "Name one fresh, Ontario -grown fruit that you've eaten."
