of Hensall
By Hilda M. Payne
After a summer recess the
regular meeting of St. Paul's
Anglican Church Women was
resumed on Thursday af-
ternoon, September 8, in the
church.
The president, Mrs. Frank
Forrest, opened the meeting
with the members prayer
followed by the Invoccation,
and Mrs. Ed. Roberts read
the scripture.
Roll call was answered with
a bible verse containing the
word "Harvest" Mrs. A.
Anderson gave the
meditation from the Living
Message after which she
closed the meeting with
prayer.
United Church news
"What a God!" was the title
of the sermon preached by
Rev. Don Beck at the United
Church Service on Sunday
morning in Hensall.
Comparing the christiai'l
life to the life of an eagle,
Rev. Beck recalled how the
mother eagle makes a nest
for the young, but later stirs
up the nest and forces her
young to plunge into the
unknown. God, in his love
stirs up lives and forces
christians to take the plunge
of faith; unless the plunge is
taken they will not reach their
destiny which is the ceiling of
development.
Guest soloist was 'Mr.
Norman -Walper of Exeter
who sang a lovely Gospel
Hymn, "Thank You Lord"
and the flowers decorating
the Sanctuary were from the
wedding of Harold Taggart
and Ann Finlay.
UCW meets
Using as her theme,
"Buried Treasure" by
Professor A.H. Hunter, Mrs.
Bob Cook illustrated the
meaning of the parable of the
thrqe servants at the Sep-
tember meeting of Unit 1 of
Hensall UCW Natural gifts
must be used or they will be
lost.
During the study period,
Mrs. Harvey Keys read two
interesting articles, the first
on the life of Rev, Garth
Legge, secretary of the World
Outreach. Development is
part helping people to help
themselves. The second, by
Gordon Hunberger,
illustrated our wastefulness
and therefore, poor
stewardship.
