Did you know that, at the
beginning of 1977, there were
over 30,000 registered blind
persons in, Canada, and that
more than 22,000 of these ,
people make use of the ser-
vices of the Canadidn
National Institutue for the.
Blind?
' In the Huron -Perth zone,
*among. the - 144 persons
registered, you 'probably
have one or more personal
friends with visual handicaps ..
who are being held by the
CNJB,program. , '' `c . •
With its program the CNIB
is able to offer assistance to
the blind in manyways. From
the onset of blindness, CNIB ,
workers„provide help during 'A
period of adjustment and
ining for daily living. Blind
ildren up to 15 years of age
may receive elementary
education throuygh the CNIB
education service.
These pupils may be
trained forjransfer to regular
high schools, and a few blind
students have graduated
from university.
All types of books and some
magazines are available in
Braille, large type editions,
and on tape, from the widely
used library service.
About two-thirds of the
money required to carry on
these' services for the blind is
obtained as donations from
,... individuals or community
organizations, and from local
fund-raising campaigns, with
e help of service clubs.
1'he campaign in the
lin-ton area will he in
October and it ,will again he
carried out , by the Clinton
Lion's CluI71 and the Clinton
Kinsmen's Club. This is the
only official campaign for
if unds to support the work of
the Canadian. National
institute for OTC Blind to he
carried out in this community

Londesboro wedding held
Londesboro United Church
was the setting of a pretty fall
wedding on September 10
when Carol Anne, daughter o,f
Milton and Helen Dale 'RR 4
Clinton became the bride of
David Glen,son of Glen and
Margaret McClure, Win-
throp.
Rev. Stanley MacDonald
performed the double ring
ceremony and Louise
McGregor, as the organist,
played the wedding music.
Matron of honor was Kathy
Rueger, RR 4. Clinton, sister
of the bride. Bridesmaids
were Barbara Warden, RR 2,
Staffa, sinter of the groom
and Debra McClure, Win-
throp, cousin of the groom.
Groomsman was Dennis'
Murray, RR 1, Dublin, friend
of the groom, Guests were
ushered by Dan McClure,
Winthrop, brother of the
groom and Don Bueger, RR 4,
Clinton, brother-in-law of the
bride.
The couple will reside in
Clinton,

Golden Radars open season
The first meeting of the
Clinton Golden Radar Senior
Citizen Club for 1977-78 was
held in the council chambers
on Wednesday evening
September 7 with Nice
president Muriel Jones in the
chair.
A letter was read from
president, Leona Lockhart
who is -vacationing in B.C. A
new portable speaker was
used and enjoyed throughout
the meeting.
Annual reports read by the
secretary -treasurer,, star
membership convener,, and
flower and card convener
showed a very successful past
year. Since mid-June flowers
were sent to Ottilie Rowden,
Viola Nelson, Mary Grigg,
Roy .Connell and John Tur-
ner; get well cards to Nor-
man Shepherd, Viola Nelson,
Ed Johns, and Mr. and Mrs.
Milton Wiltse; sympathy
cards to Edith Pickard, Mr.
and Mrs, Jim Armstrong and
Mrs, Wilfred Jervis and
family and an anniversary
card to Mr. and Mrs. Joe
-
R yan.
In place ol* roll call, 55
members paid their annual
membership fee. 'A group of
lady members quilted a
lovely quilt during the
summer—and have tickets on
it for sale for a raffle in
December, A lovely afghan
and other knitted and
crocheted articles were also
on display.

1977-78 read and adopted:

pianist, Leila iohnston.
A short installation
ceremony took place for the
new officers and'a vote of
thanks extended to the
retiring officers. The annual
Christmas Banquet will be
held in the Legion Hall on
December 14. The Zone 8 Fall
Rally will be held in Brussels
on October 2. The door prizes
were won by Rachel Johnston
and Ed Johns.
The meeting closed by
singing the Queen, a few
games of euchre were played
and a hearty lunch was
served by a group of volun-
teers
