Middleton children - return to school
By Audrey Middleton
We welcome back the
school season as heartily as
we welcomed the freedoms of
the summer holidays. . –
There will be milestones
marked in many a township
family • this week. Some
school-agers will be boarding
the big yellow school bus for
the very first time, while
others will be riding enward
to the larger high school. Still
others will be nervously
trying out the city bus routes
to, get to college for their first
time away from home. What
an interesting world! '
A very happy reunion was
enjoyed on Sunday; Sep-
tember 4 when Mr.' Stewart
Middleton, Mrs. Fred Mid-
dleton joined. Mr. and Mrs.
Ross Middleton and family
and the rest of the John
Middleton clan at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. keith Tyndall
RR 1, Clinton and later the
Sandpiper Inn to 'celebrate
the 25th wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. Al (June)
White of Ottaway.
Best wishes are extended to
Don Wise as he has just begun
his new job as head mechanic
at the newly opened Haugh
Tire Supply.
Bill Klomps, Louis Hart-
man, Mark Hartman, Jim
Middleton, Greg Butler, Tim
Bylsma and Brian Miller
motored to Indianapolis
Indiana to attend the 23rd
Annual U.S. National Drags
over the Labour Day
weekend. The sights and
sounds of the three days
mechanics extravaganza
thrilled the 100,000 spec-
tators. +Having so 'much to
think and talk about, the nine-
hour non-stop ride home
didn't seem so tiresome.
A complete family reunion
was held at Mr. and Mrs.,Ed
Wise's on the weekend when
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
(Brenda) Cleave and son
Danny were home from
Matheson, The others joining
the folks at home were Mr.
and Mrs. Chris (Barb) Cowan
of Blyth and Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis (Sandra) Kelley and
daughter.
The St. James Anglican
ACW will hold their first fall
meeting on Thurs. Sept. 15,
S:15 p.m. at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Smith. Mem-'
bers are asked to bring in
their pennies to their leaders
for an early fall count on the
Pennies Contest. Friends and
neighbours are always
-welcome to attend the
meetings.
A concert very worthy of
your attention will be held at
Trivitt Memorial Anglican
Church, x.eter on Monday,
September 12 at 8 p.m. A
'musicale, sponsored by
Compassion of Canada, will
be presented by six Korean
girls and their.' music teacher
along with an opera singer.
There will be Korean folk and
gospel music. There will also
be a 'free 'will offering.
Proceeds will aid the hungry
children of the world.
Everyone is cordially invited
to attend.

exempt from collections.
Musical entertainment was provided at the Bayfield•Fall Fair parade on Saturday by the
Bayfield Lions Goodtime Band. The group drove through the streets of the village and
entertained the crowds who watched the parade. (News -Record photol
