The St. Marys Journal -
Argus, reported that the St.
Marys police chief, Ed
Matheson is- scheduled to
appear in Stratford court on
September 19 to face two
charges laid against him by
the Sebringville OPP.
Matheson was charged with
pointing a firearm at another
person and carrying or using
a dangerous weapon. The
charges resulted from an
alleged gun -pointing incident
some two weeks ago.
Following a complaint from
a citizen, an investigation
was carried out abput the
incident and Matheson
voluntarily agreed to suspend
himself, from the police force
until the matter is'solved.
Matheson has been the
chief of police in St. Marys
since 1968.
The Listowel Banner
reported in a story this week
that the Perth County Board
of Education is going Oat on
the road. Instead of holding
their next meeting in the
regular Stratford board
rooms, the September 20
meeting will 'be held at
1 Listowel Central Public
School.
The change will, allow the
trustees to see one of the
newest schools in Perth and
will also allow residents of the
area a chance to see what a
meeting will be like. The
meeting, which will be open,
hopes to encourage the local
residents to come and
examine the board and the
systm.
"It's a bird, it's an air-
plane, it's superman." - Well
not quite but the skies around
Goderich were scheduled to
be filled last weekend as the
largest skydiving competition
in Canada and one of the
largest in North America was
scheduled to be held.
The Goderich Signal Star
reported that some 500
competitors would take part
in the event which ran from
September 3-5.
Vandals struck Exeter
recently but fortunately what
could have been a serious
situation did not occur.
The Exeter Tlmes-
Advocate reported that
considerable damage was
caused to the PUC pumping
station in Riverview Park.
The yotlths managed to get
some picnic tables piled up so
they could gain access to the
roof and some shingles were
damaged.
