A neighbourhood get- together to honor the summer nuptials was held on Wed- nesday, August 24 at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Vanderhaar. The honorable newlyweds were Leroy and Dawn Emma De Jong and Fred and Janet Vanderhaar. Over 40 people assembled in Fred and Janet's, lovely new home and happily occupied every nook and cranny throughout the house at a hilarious game of progressive euchre. The visitation was more serious than the card game. Nevertheless, prizes were awarded to the following players: meds high, Ben. 4+ Nyman; mens low, Fred Vanderhaar; ladies high, Anita Vanderhaar; ladies low, Beatrice Welsh. The climax of the evening was an address and presentation to both bridal couples of identical large mirrors, wedding gifts from the community. Frank Thompson read the address and Bill Brand and Grant'! Stirling presented the gifts. Both couples repP ed fittingly. Organizers of the party were Toni Brand and Betty Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wise left on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. - Alvin Wise to attend a Pride Corn convention in Chatham. I wish to sincerely thank you for your many kind gestures of sympathy to me G and my family on the recentl death of my dad, Wilfred Jervis. It was a comfort to know you cared. OFA saves farmers 5100 each "Ontario farmers have been saved nearly a $100 'dollars each in additional annual taxes --through the intervention of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture", announced OFA President Peter Hannam today. "The Advisory Committee to the 'Minister of Natural Resources on the Revision of the Mining Act had recom- mended farmers pay a yearly fifty cent an ac'f'e tax on the mineral rights to their land.
