The St. Marys Journal - Argus explained that the four page letter, which was sent, to ° all boards of.. education, concerns public views on the availability of pornography and obscene literature. Trustee Rev, Michael Griffen explained that' the letter was offensive to any board, especially the section that read these matters should be dealt with by the courts and that vigilante -type action by individuals may be dangerous and not a press the Canadian public opinion. The former home of Issac Carling, built in 1856 will soon be demolished to make way for an addition to the South Huron Hospital. The Exeter Times - Advocate reported that the decision came after almost six years of waiting for government assistance, but now the hospital board have decided to go alone with the $500,000 addition. The board finally made the decision since there was a need to' update facilities and the . Carling home is deteriorating quickly. The home, which was used for administration purposes is literally falling down, mortar is falling out between the bricks, the large front verandah is being supported by two jacks and the house is too hard to heat. In 1976, the provincial government informed the board that approximately $1,000,000 would be given for the addition, •but the board was -given no indication when the funds would be available.
