The Anglican Church Women of St. Mark's Church met in the church for their July meeting last Thursday 'evening. Mrs. Robert Slater, the president was in charge of her meeting- and it was opened with the hymn 1 Cannot Tell, Why He Who Angels Worship. Prayers were led by Mrs. Slater followed by a read ng, Prayers of Life. Readings were given by Mrs. Elmer Tro,mmer, Canning Fever by Mrs. Thomas Lawlor, Re•rnember When by Mrs. Slater, Bless My Home by Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell, People Who Care by Mrs. Trommer and Sunday and Church by Mrs. Ed Davies. Mrs. Slater took a chapter of the study book, How to be , a Christian Without Being. Religious. She also led in a discussion on the subject. This part of the meeting was closed with the hymn, The Day Thou Gayest Lord Is Ended, was sung and all repeated the Grace. The minutes were accepted as read by the secretary Mrs. John Daer. Mrs. " Thomas Haggitt, the treasurer gave the financial statement. Mrs. Elmer Trommer read a letter of thanks ,,from Trout Lake thanking the A.C.W. for the bale which they had sent this spring. Business was discussed and the meeting was closed. SOCIAL NEWS Mrs. Emmerson Rodger and her sister Mrs. Pearl Rollinson of Toronto returned last week from a two week holiday in Hawaii. Mr. Rodger and son Gary .met them at Toronto. Mr. Wayne Scott and friend Miss Diane Lebrun of Wawa spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Keith Scott and brother Mr., Eric Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Weir of - London visited last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. ,cThRsimas Johnston, IVIiss Laura Phillips and other friendsin the village.' Mr, Ad. ' „Mrs. Ronald Livermore and sons of Fordwich, visited on 'the weekend witli her parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines. Mr. and Mrs'. Brian Craig arrived home from Itheir wedding trip last Friday and will make their home in Guelph. Congratulations. • Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Weston of Toronto are holidaying with her mother Mrs. Mary Rollinson and brother Mr. Murray Rollinson. Wilfred Collinson was able to come home from Victoria hospital on Sunday evening where he had been a patient for several days. The com- munity is pleased to have him back. Mrs, Marian Sproul returned last weekend from a motor trip to Kenora. Mr. and Mrs. Garth McClinchey, Sandra, Janice and Brian returned recently from, a trip to Vancouver where they visited,her sister, Mrs. Ronald Taylor, Mr. Taylor and family. Mr. and Mrs. James Glousher and family returned on Sunday after a camping holiday at Point Farms Provincial Park. Mrs.-- Elmer Trommer visited last Thursday with her sister, Mrs. Barney Cade, Mr. Cade and family at St. Marys., Mr. Ed Miller of Windsor visited last week with his brother Mr. Gordon Miller and Mrs. Miller. 30 attend WI picnic Thirty ladies, including W.I. members and guests enjoyed a pleasant afternoon at the Bayfield-Ausable picnic area south 'of town on July 28. Grandmother s were specially entertained during the program. Thr president, Mrs. W. Colclough, and the assistant secretary -treasurer, G. Smith conducted a short business. session. The roll call was answered with members suggesting a place they would like to visit on a bus trip. Varied answers included, Ontario Place, Marineland, Collingwood, Clock Museum at Barrie, etc., etc. Billets are still needed in the Clinton area for overnight accomodation on September 28 for ladies who will be at- tending the area Convention of the WI., A curator's workshop will be held in St. George's Anglican church, Goderich, on August 17th. .Mrs. Cecil Elliott gave a concise synopsis of the 80 Anniversary celebrations of the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario, held at Bingeman Park, Kitchener on July 13, which she and The Auburn Women's Institute members received an invitation to attend the Londesboro W.I. meeting on August to at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ball, of Clinton visited last Sunday with Mrs. Bell Alien. BAPTISM The Sacrament of Holy Baptism was observed by Rev. Earl St., Jean for April Noreen Gross, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gross; Peter Dawson Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Craig and Ryan Douglas Chamney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Chamney. One of the Bible School classes at the Christian Reform Church went out with a bang last Thursday when they sang and played rhythm -instruments for parents and friends lit a closing concert. Three dates were stressed to those present- 1897 -when the first W.I. organization was formed by Mrs. Adelaide Hoodless in Stoney Creek; 1919, the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario, and the Federated Women's Institutes of Canada were formed; and 1933 the year that the world organization A.C.W.W. was formed.
