Glenn Patterson of Goderich was the caller and Lois Wise of . RR 3, Clinton cued for the round dancers. Guests were present . from London, Grand Bend and Lucknow and they had the pleasure of dancing with Ian andDorothy Hay of Royal Oak, Mich. who have a cot- tage soulh'of Bayfield. The Hays have composed several round dances and the group danced two, "Cynthia" which is a waltz and "Slip- pery" - a two step. At 11 p.m. the group gathered on the beautiful •'lawn of Dick and Ruth Moore where the lunch committee barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers. Coffee and Watermelon , finished off the evening.* About 60 people attended.. • e ugle The group Of dancers. have ve been invited to dance at Point Farms Provincial Park, Aug, 13 and free camping will be available to all dancers on both the friday and Saturday night of that.weekend. Last week, Mr. and Mrs. Village soccer news Bayfield successfully hosted 128 squirts for a day of soccer recently. They came from Goderich, Clinton, Seaforth, St. Columban, Grand Bend. Each team played twice and Bayfield. tied two games and lost one. Pop and hot dogs were supplied for the boys. Andrew Cooper and Edward Bullen were chosen to take part in tournament in Sarnia -last Saturday, but results were not known at this time. Draw tickets will be drawn by Aug. 10th. We are sorry to report that Mrs. Adam Flowers has suffered another heart attack and is in the Clinton hosipital. She is now out of intensive care. Mr. Joe Flowers of London visited Mr. Adam Flowers. Also Mr. and Mrs. Russell Flowers and two children were with Adam on the weekend. Native honored at shower Relative g' and friends gathered in St. Andrew's 'nited Church basement on Thursday evening for shower in honour of Wendy Greer. Words of welcome . were extended to all by Margaret Scotchmer, and Mrs: Marlene Welsh took charge of the guest book. A .program was presented and consisted of the following numbers. Angela Dunn sang two songs accompanied by Mrs. Anna Scotchmer. Lisa Taman step danced, ac- companied by her mother on the piano. Mary Lynn, Lori, and Cindy Talbot played ukuleles and were joined in singing by Cheryl Dunn and Barbara Campbell. Tracey Erb and Shelley Horner sang two numbers, which were much enjoyed. Mrs. Russel Grainger grouped those present ac- cording to the month of their birthday and had charge of a • contest. Kim Talbot played a piano selection. Wendy, her sister Patti, her sister Joyce (Mrs. Robinson), Joy Cleave also the groom's mother, Mrs. R. Cullen, and bride's mother, . Mrs. Bert Greer, took chairs at the front and an address was.read by Brenda Talbot. Anne Flaw and Anne Talbot brought the shower gifts to the bride who was assisted in opening them by her attendants. Talbot, Sunday, Other recent ,visitors at the same home yere Mrs. Tom Workman and Mrs. Fred Workman, aunt and cousin of Mr. Talbot, from Woodstock. Miss Crystal Huffman, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Huffman and Miss Cathy McFadden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. McFad- den, have spent the last two weeks -in the state of Min- nesota with the Lions Club Youth Exchange program. Crystal was in Rockford and Cathy in Loretto. They bOth had a very enjoyable time and we hope to have a more extensive report on their trip for next week's issue.' The many friends of Mrs. Sadie Murney of the senior. citizen's apartments will be sorry to learn that she is confined to the Victoria Hospital in London.' We all wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. Russ Kerr is also in hospital, the Clinton Com- munity Hosiiital, and we hope he too will soon be able to return home. Mrs. Dorothy Dawson from Toronto spent a week with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed Gale, Mr. Gale, Michael and Herbert. Miss Beverly Gale from Banff Springs Hotel, Banff, Rae Fraser moved into their new home on the former Thompson property overinoking the river. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Latimer were at their home here. With them were Judy Archer and Rick McClosky of Weston. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bell of Oakville visited Mrs; Elva Metcalf on the weekend: Brian Merrill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Merrill, who is employed with the Dept. of Transport (helicopter division) Ottawa has just been notified that he will spend five weeks in .Victoria B.C. beginning Aug. 2nd overhauling helicopters at the base there. will be able to visit his brother Gordon .and family in New Westminster, B.C. on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw, Anne and Cathy attended a .15th wedding anniversary dinner- and also visited relatives near Dundalk on Sunday. Cathy remained for a holiday with gratidma and grandpa Riddell and cousins. An error crept into the news last week. Whetstone received first prize. , Men's slow pitch results aer the past weekend a number of games were played in the Bayfield Men's Slowpitch _league, Paul Bunyan won over Homestead by a score of 11-e, Kitchigarni lost to the Lions by 17-6, Varna beat Blue Anchor,' 28- 15 and Pine Lake forfeited their game to the Bayfield Night Hawks. This weekend, Blue Anchor is at .Paul Bunyan, Pine Lake is at Homestead, the Bayfield Night Hawks play the Lions at the fair grounds and Kit- chigami battles Varna. Maid of honor was Valerie Merner of Bayfield. She wore a soft yellow, empire -styled floor -length gown with short bell sleeves. She carried a garden bouquet nosegay. Bridesmaids were Miss • . Linda Campbell of Bayfield and Miss Joyce Mcllwain of --iBayfield. They were dressed identically to the maid of honor. Groomsman was Brian Semple of Bayfield. Ushers were Bill Hyde -of Saltford and John Campbell of Bayfield, The Sandpiper Inn in Vanastra was decorated with yellow and white carnations for the reception following the wedding. Berry ' Mr. and Mrs. Ross Scott have returned home after a pleasant visit with their daughter, Mrs. Leo Rushball and family of Vancouver and also attended the graduation of their granddaughter from a nursery school. • Miss Elizabeth Scott of London spent the weekend with Miss M. Mrs., Andre Pesecke at Port Franks. The Desecke's home is in $t. Clair Shores, Mich. Sincere sympathy is ex- tended to the family of the late John Heyda of St: Thomas, who was killed last* Wednesday night in a motorcycle accident in S Thomas. John and his will. Sandy, with their two children spent many weekends and holidays at their trailer in the Homestead Trailer Park, and John will be missed by his many friends here. Baptist church news The regular -services of the Bayfield Baptist Church were well attended,Sunday with the Church crowded for the morning service.
