Retiring teacher honored
Friday, June 24, at noon
when Mrs, Amy Mac Crostie
went to her grade six
classroom at Colborne
Central School, a pleasant
event Was awaiting her. ,
On opening the door,
screams of "Surprise!"
greeted her and there, ex-
tending down the .middle of
the room was a complete,
smorgasbord of delicious
food. The table, her desk, and
chair were prettily decorated
with streamers and flowers ;
and on her desk sat a large
"Best Wishes" cake, ,baked,
and beautifully decorated
with white pink, and green
icing, by one of the students,
Sharon Lomas.
The entire party was
planned by the pupils
themselves.
Following this bountiful
banquet, Jeff Feagan capably
expressed appreciation to
their teacher for her excellent
guidance during the year, and
Jannette Middel presented
her with a Lady Sheaffer pen
and pencil set engraved with
"Colborne 1977." Mrs. Mac
Crostie thanked this
energetic and capable group
of childcren for their won-
derful co-operation and many
kindnesses to her.
Mrs. Mac Crostie, the
former Amy Toll, is retiring
after having taught six years
in East Wawanosh township
schools, Belgrave and Blyth
areas, before her marriage to
Hugh upon his return from
overseas; nine years as part-
time teacher at the Goderich
Business College; and nine
years as principal's relief at
Colborne Central School.
A presentation was made to
her by two grade eight
graduates, Jean Samis and
Scott Kernighan, Students'
Council members,
representing the staff and
students of the school, at
Awards Night following the
grade eight banquet, last
Thursday evening.
She was also honoured by
the Federation of Women
Teachers' Association at a
banquet at the Pine Ridge
Chalet, Hensall; by the Huron
County Board of Education at
the White Carnation,
Holmesville; by . the
