died Tuesday, _.June 28 in
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital following a
lengthy illness. She was 67.
The former Daisy Scot-
chmer; she was born Sep-
tember 8, 1909 in Craik,
Saskatchewan, .to Alfred and
Helen (Mart aan) Scot-
chmer. She attended public
school in Craik, . Saskat-
chewan, and high school in
Eyebrow, Saskatchewan.
She was married August 30,
1925, in Craik, Saskatchewan
to Frederick P. Arkell who
survives. .Mrs. Arkell had
resided in Calgary, Goderich
Township and Bayfield before
'Moving .to Goderich four
years ago. She was a member
of the' Women's Guild at
Trinity Anglican Church in
Bayfield where she held
membership.

Mrs. Donald (Rosemarie)

Fred (Helen) LeBeau and
Mrs'. Gordon (Rose) , Scot -
o" chmer, ail of Bayfield, and
two brothers, Alfred Scot-
chmer , and Gordon Scot-
chmer, both of Bayfield.
The funeral service. was,
Thursday, June 30 at Trinity
Anglican Church, Bayfield
with Rev. William M. Bennett
officiating. •
Interment was in Bayfield
,Cemetery. Pallbearers. were
"Mrs. Arkell's grandsons
Phillip Turner, Brian King,
,Kenneth Arkell, Clare Sager,
Nick Sager and Tom Sager.
stella Maye Tyndall
Stella Maye Tyndall died in
Clinton on July 6 after a •)
lengthy'iliness. She was in her
72nd year. .
A lifetime resident of the
area, she was born to Robert
and Jane Bell on May 5, 1905
in Goderich. -She lived in
Goderich and was married to
Clarence Connell in 1924. In
1970 she remarried Roy t/
Tyndall and lived in Clinton.
She was an active member
of her husbands and is sur-
vived by her two daughters,
Mrs. Cameron (Marie)
Procter of Clinton and Mrs.
Robert (Lois) Miller of
Kitchener. She is also sure
vived by eight grandchildren
and one great grandchild.
F uneral services were held
on July 8 at the Ball Funeral
Home with Rev. Stanley
MacDonald officiating.
Interment followed• at the
ClintoniCemetery. _

sighted. This is, "an old wives
tale" said Mr. Wally Ken-
nedy, District Administrator
of the CNIB, London branch.
He said the reason for the
belief is that blind people are
more dependent on these
senses - they try harder.

dies' in Toronto
May Rance Mackinnon, a
resident of Clinton for many
years between 1890 and 1960,
died July 12, 1977 at Sheridan
Villa, Toronto. She was the
daughter of Charles Car-
michael Rance and Nettie
Jackson and a niece of
William and Clara Jackson.
Mrs. Mackinnon was well-
known in the Clinton area for
her work -at , St. Paul's
Anglican Church as well as
holding the position of
Director of Music and
Elocution in the Clinton
schools.
At 80 years of age, the
activities of this remarkable
lady included 'a trip around
the world.
She is survived by two
daughter's, Mary (Mrs, Ron
Hunts Brampton i and Marny
(Mrs. John Motyer,
Wingham

degree at a local university
and is now gainfully em-
ployed_ with an engineering

beliefs into practice, they
'never'hire a sighted person: if
.a blind one can do the job.
Wally's talk 'was preceded
by a .short film Strip depicting
types of blindness,

cards, talking calculator and
one of the newer electronic
devices an opticon ,which
allows the blind to read a
book with ordinary printing.
Elaine Townshend thanked
Mr. Kennedyy and presented
him with a $25 cheque for the
CNIB.. ,

piper Inn, Vanastra with over
100 present. During 'the
evening of dining , and dan-
cing. gifts were presented to
the guests of honour.
