Maitland residents upset over duck thievery
by Milena Lobb
There is a sad. thing hap-
pening in our community. Bill
.Crawford wishes the man and
young boy, in a station
wagon, would return and
steal the last baby duck so
that the mother Auck will
start to lay eggs and maybe -
h couldget another setting of
eggs this summer.
A neighbor saw these
people ;grab four of the five
oh, goslings and then 'they drove
0 -when the 'house door
ehed. There .were 13
goslings to start with and now
Bill wonders if they stole the
rest too.__
When an adult sets
examples like this for his son,
*at can we expect of this
boy when he grows up? We
understand Les Jervis ' is
*missing several of , his
goslings q also. Makes one
wonder what this world is
corning to.
We "knew that people do
stupid things when one of the
pigs on part of Brian's 4-H
sign at the fence at the end of
our 'lane was forcibly
Alloyed and then a month or
so later the second one was_,
• taken. We hope the, thieves
are -enjoying the hard work
that was put into, making
them"
4
+++
Some people are stupid but
there are still a lot .of won-
derful ones in this world as -
Bill and I learned on June
25th.
Family, friends and
IVrelatives, like diamonds
are precious and rare,
grid bn June 25th, we knew
you did care,
The party was planned by
our family of four,
• They didn't need to have
done any more.
But on June 21st to the
"Mill" we were sent,
• -1.eci Bill didn't even have to
ty therent. •••
. We, thought we had made a
few -friends over the years
_And Lorene promised 10
couples for the dance
without any fears.
But people --you came --you
just wouldn't stop
I was ' afraid Bill's vest
buttons might pop.
We were so pleased and
ever so proud,
We . ' wanted to cry
"THANKS" ever so loud.
You'll never guess how
good you made us feel
Just the fact so many
thought of us made - -our
heads reel.
The music by Shannon with
our friend Paul •
Was thoroughly enjoyed by
all.
Wendy's poem we'll always
treasure in our heart,
And that SILVER BROOM-
-with it we'll never part.
Yes, there are times over
the years ,
Raising a family causes a
few tears ;
You watch while from
habes to adults they grow
And before very long from
home they start to go.
But like the past week when
they do special things
That is when with pride
your heart sings.
On Saturday night, both Bill
and I were proud •
To introduce "our four" to
that great big crowd.
Words were never so hard
to find
I sure had a BIG blank in
my mind.
Twenty-five years once
seemede long time away,
But it really has flown by
day after day.
Now it is past and what do I
do •
•
Shed a few happy tears--/
shouldn't be blue.
"THANK YOU" once more
is all we can say
We'll treasure your gifts
and best wishes for many a
xi ay.
The memories of this time
in our married life -
Will last as long as we're
man and wife.
