simons home for a barbecue
on Sunday in honour of the
latter on Fathers Day.

visited on the weekend with

Mr. David Dewar of Don
Mills also visited in the sante
home and were visitors with
Mrs. Ada Dewar at the Blue
Water Nursing Home at
Zurich. -
Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Rachich, Jennifer and
Meagen of Ingersoll spent the
weekend with Mrs. Lulu
Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw,
Anne, Brad and Cathy visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Riddell near Dundalk on the
weekend. They attended the
wedding and reception of a
cousin, Miss Gwen Riddell.
who was married on Satur-
day. Gwen was the little
flower girl at Don and
Marilyn's wedding when they
were married.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Parker
visited with their sons and
their families. at London and
Dorchester for Father's Day.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker
attended the Webster reunion
and picnic at Brucefield
Centennial School on Sunday.
Mr. Willard Dresser was
entertained at the home of
• Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker
when he celebrated his 81st
birthday recently.

Mr. Bob Cluff and Joan of
London were at their cottage
on the weekend.
Mr. Steve Scotchmer and
Jean of St. Catharines visited
} with Mr. Alf Scotchmer over
the weekend.
Mr. and 1Virs. Allan Arm-
strong of Bramalea were
weekend visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. W.D. Armstrong.
Also visiting in the same
home were Wignie Arm-
strong from Toronto and
Julia from Hamilton.
Community showers girl
Relatives, friends and
neighbours met in the prettily
decorated basement of St.
Andrews United Church,
where a bridal shower was
held in honour of Sandra Cox
on Saturday afternoon.
Miss Debbie Siertsema was
in charge of the guest book,
and Carol Penhale and
Wendy had charge of the
program. Mrs. Semple read
the address to the bride.
Julie and Lisa Porter,
Son graduates
Alan Armstrong, eldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D.
Armstrong, received his
Bachelor of Engineering
(Electrical) degree from
Carleton University, Ottawa.
Alan, a graduate of CHSS
received his Bachelor of
Science (Honours Physics)
from the University of
Waterloo in 1974.
He has accepted a position
at Northern Telecom Canada,
Bramalea, where he is a
component engineer. Mr. and
Mrs. Armstrong are residing
in Bramalea
Barbara Campbell and
Wendy Penhale carried the
gift's to the bride, who was
assisted in opening them by
Sharon Brandon, and two
sisters of the bride, Sheryl
and Mrs. Hemmingway.
Sandra expressed thanks to
all for her beautiful gifts, and
a delicious lunch was served.
Presbyterian
ministers here
Mr. Tony Paton, student
minister of Knox
Presbyterian church was in
charge of devotions when the
Presbytery of Stratford -
Huron met here June 15.
About thirty-five ministers
and laymen attended and
were served a turkey , and
ham dinner by the ladies of
the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Paton have
taken up residence at Mrs.
Menerey's home on Louisa
Street and have plans for a
busy season of church and
co unity work.
Lois Elliott and Ethel McPherson are not checking fon.ants in the potato salad, but instead
are preparing a dish for the Ontario Street UCW's 15th annual picnic. The event was held

Village Seniors visit Huronview
Thirty five members of the
Ever Young Sr. Citizens of
Bayfield journeyed to
Huronview on Monday where
they were joined by the Sr.
Citizens from the Blyth
organization.
Mr. Harry Baker,
president, extended a
welcome to all. Mr. Archibald
also expressed appreciation
tb all who came to spend an
afternoon with the residents.
Violin music played by
Mrs. Maitland Driver,
Goderich and Mr. Spears,
who is a resident at Huron -
view and accompanied by
Mrs. Molly , Cox, was very
much enjoyed.
Mrs. Myrtle Parker played
the piano for some old time
songs, which were led by Mrs.
Mary Nediger.
The president from Blyth,
Mrs. Webster, also greeted
the guests and thanks was
extended to Mr. Bob Taylor
and Mr. Archibald for their
kindness and co-operation.
Auxiliary meets

The June meeting of the
Huronview Auxiliary was
held -in the Craft Room on
Monday, June 20.
In the absence of the
secretary, Mrs. Anne
McNichol, the minutes of the
last meeting were read by
Mrs. Betty Scratch. The
treasurer; Mrs. L. Lockhart,
gave the report of the bazaar
and bake sale, both of which
were very successful. The roll
call, "Where I would like to
go on a trip" was answered
by 17 members. The mem-
bers were asked to start and
prepare articles for the
bazaar in the Fall.
The next meeting will be
held on July 18 at 1: 30 .p.m.
Mrs. Luella MacDonald'
adjourned the meeting so that
all could go to the Auditorium
where Bayfield and Blyth
were in charge of the
program for the afternoon
this being Senior Citizens
week.
Hensall news
• Japan, a country of op-
posites, of the old and new
mixed, of modern buildings
and olden idols, of customs
linked with traditional
religion yet a loss of belief in
religion, was described by
word and slides by Miss Ann
Reuber of Stratford -at an all
entertainment evening of the
UCW of Hensall United
Church.
About 75 -guests were
present from Chiselhurst
United Church, Kippen UC,
Brucefield UC, Goshen UC,
Zurich Emmanuel UC, and
Zurich Lutheran Church, and
all enjoyed the beautiful
slides of crowded streets,
parks, churches, mountains
and modern architecture
illustrated, as well as the
humorous and descriptive
way Miss Reuber described
her life for three and a half
years of teaching in a girls
school in Japan.
The meeting opened with a
few words from the vice-
president, Mrs. Grace
Drummond and following
that Mrs. Ken Elder, Mrs.
Doug Cook and Mrs. Howard
Scane conducted a devotional
on Faith, Doubt and
Reassurance.
During the program,
musical numbers by Mrs.
Jerry Moffatt, Kippen and
Mrs. Grant St. John, Hensall,
were enjoyed. The offering
was 'given to the United
Church of Canada Mission
Fund, the organization' which
sent Miss Reuber to Japan.
Following the meeting all
adjourned to the Fellowship
Hall to enjoy a social hour
while lunch was served. •
