John Oestreicher in charge. Graduation Jean and Clarence Perdue attended the 222nd spring convocation at Alumni Hall at the Uniyersity of Western Ontario, London, June 8 when ,their daughter, Bonnie Ann, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. It was a very enjoyable and happy day for those concerned. Bonnie has accepted a teaching position at the Holmesville School. Thos of the community would like to congratulate Bonnie and wish her all the best at the Holmesville School. ? th Wedding Anniversary The family of Irene and Earl Heipel held a dinner at the M 11, Benmiller in honour of their parents 25th wedding anniversary, June 4. After the dinner, the family returned to their parents home where everyone en- joyed an evening of fun. On Saturday evening June I1, an anniversary mass, was sung by Father Hardy, at St. Joseph's Church, Clinton. The men's choir sang during the mass led by Seamus Doherty. The reader was Kay Sharpe and the organist was Mrs. Bonnie Jewett. Later a reception was held at the Clinton Legion Hall where many guests joined Mr. and Mrs. Heipel in celebrating their anniversary. Taking care, of the guest book were Mabel and Milt Schreiber of Clinton who were at the couples wedding 25 years -'ago. Mrs. Florence Lambertus of Mildmay, sister of Mrs. Heipel and a bridesmaid, was present as was her flower girl, a niece of Mr. Heipel's Madeline Quigley of Harriston. Two elderly aunts and one elderly uncle were happy to join in the occasion. Other guests, friends and neigh- bours were ' from the Walkerton area, Hanover, London, Kitchener, Chep- stow, Formosa, Mildmay, and Ottawa. An enjoyable evening of dancing to the Truetones was spent. A lovely lunch was served by the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. Go Cart Racer Bradley Duff has been cleaning up in the Go Cart races this year in London. He is top point holder at Fan- shawe Cartways in his class. Bradley travelled to Georgetown Sunday and did very well against top drivers of Ontario in sanctioned racing. Good wishes Laurie. Bus Trip The Goderich Township Women's Institute are planning a busy trip to Park - wood McLaughlin Estates, June 28. It is open to anyone. UCW Meeting The UCW of Holmesville United Church met in the Sunday school room on Tuesday June 7 with Mrs. Wilmer Potter presiding. She read a poem concerning the Church, Mrs. Phyllis Cox and Mrs. Myrtle Baxter read the scripture and meditation religion in Canada from the study book was taken by Mrs. Ada Tebbutt and Mrs. Irene Cudmore. Mrs. Potter read an article "Living in Missanabie". Mrs. Phyllis Cox was in charge of the business. Mrs. Maizie Gliddon, Mrs. Huller and Mrs. Elma Potter were called to the front and Mrs. Doris Batkin read the ad- dress. Mrs. Lis Jervis presented the former ladies with life membership pins for their faithful work in the church. The roll call was answered with the qualities you admire in a friend. Pennies were brought in. Twenty five dollars was donated to the London Conference World Outreach. A bale was.delivered to Mission Servicin London. More articles were brought in on. the day of the'mteeting. Mrs. Maizie Gliddon led in prayer to close the meeting. Mr. and•, Mrs. Robert Forsythe of Willowdale visited with Mrs. Lititia Riddell and Brian on the weekend. Goderich Township On Tuesday evening June 12, 20 members and guests of the Goderich Township Women's Institute toured the museum in Goderich between the hours of 7-9 p.m. After the guided tour they met at the home of Mrs. Bernice Mcllwain where she presided the meeting. The roll call was answered with something that gran- dmother did that you don't have to do. The minutes were read and approved. A tupperware s party will be held at the November meeting. Plans were made for a booth at the arena. Crafts ' will be on July 7 and baking July 8. Arrangements have been made for a bus trip to Oshawa on June 28 starting at 8 a.m. A tour will begin of Parkwood McLaughlin estates at 12 noon. The group will visit the museum as well as a shop- ping center, have a late supper and then head home. Plans were made for the graduation luncheon in Holmesville School on' June 24. There will not be a picnic this year. The June group served a delicious lunch and all enjoyed a social hour together. It was chicken delight for the hungry people who attended the Foresters chicken barbecue in Kinburn last Wednesday evening. Along with the chicken, salads, rolls and potatoes completed the delicious meal. (News -Record photo) the BAYFIELIJ .bugle Janet Talbot Unit No. l from St. Andrews United Church Bayfield was well represented at Bruccfield U.C.W. visitor's day and meeting in their church on Tuesday. The program was an ex- cellent one and much enjoyed by all present. Lunch and a social time concluded a pleasant afternoon. Bayfield Eves' Young Senior Citizen group en- tertained Dashwood and Clinton groups on Tuesday evening in the Town Hall President Harry Baker welcomed the guests and announced the program numbers. Two very pleasing selections "Danny Boy" and "Auralie" were played by Dalton Smith on his violin accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Hill. Elmer Trick, Clinton, also played several piano --selec- tions in his usual, fine style. Two ladies from Dashwood sang a number which was much enjoyed. About twenty neighbours of One hundred and fifteen Mr. and Mrs. Morris Taylor were present and twenty five surprised them with a tables of euchre played; farewell party on Wednesday ladies high was Mrs. evening at their home. Blair Bettye and Renee remained to spend part of the summer here. A shower will be held in St. Andrews United Church basement for Sandra Cox, a bride elect, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cox. The shower will begin at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Rev. G. H. and Mrs. Crosby of Mooretown visited Mrs. Jessie Blair on Monday and also visited with Mrs. Lucy Diehl at the Hut. We are pleased that Lucy is able to be home. Mr. and Mrs. Bev Wannop from Cambridge visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Merrill. Mr. and Mrs. Howard IY.Iliott of Thedford were with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Merrill on Sunday. and Pennsylvania. Dr. Allan Reddoch and his wife from White Horse are spending a few days days with Rev. J. and Mrs Red- doch at the United Church parsonage. Mrs. Leona Mc Kellar is spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Ted Dunn, Ted and family. Mrs. V. Mc Laughlin, Meagen, Alfie and Courtney, Toronto were weekrnd visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Le Beau. Michael Scotchmer of Toronto spent the weekend with his father Mr. Alf. Scotchmer. Paul Stephenson spent a few days fishing in the French River area a week ago. Last weekend Bill Chessell was fishing at Powassan. Pike fishing was good at Powassan, but they didn't get any pickerel or lorry Heard has passed his first year exams at Fanshawe College, and is again working for Bedard Construction of Zurich for the summer. Ann Marie is working at the P varian Inn this summer. The, Varna Slowpitch team defeated Kitchigami Camp 39 to 8 in a game played at the Varna Ball Park on Saturday night. Brownies Eleven Brownies from Vanastra attended a weekend campout at Camp Klahanie last weekend. By going to camp the girls earned their Holiday Weekend Badge. Vanastra Community Centre Classes for the Spring program at the Vanastra Centre end this week` on Saturday, June 18. The centre will be closed to the public Monday June 20 and Tuesday June 21 for maintenance. Details of the Summer Program 1977, will be ad- vertised in the Huron Shopper towards the end of June. Registration will begin the week of July 4. Classes for swimming and fitness commence July 11. Present recreation swim times are still in effect until July 4 at which time af- ternoon swimming will begin. The present recreation swim schedule is as follows: Monday 7 - 8 and 8:30 - 9:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 8:30 - 10 p.m. ; Wednesday, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 - 10 p.m.; Thursday, 7-8p.m.and 8:30-10p.rn.; Friday, 7 - 8 p.m.; Saturday, 3 - 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 3 - 4:30 p.m. Because of the interest shown ballet classes will be continued for the summer session.
