CHSS wins at Huron -
Perth track meet
Two weeks ago Tuesday the
CHSS track and field team
went to Seagram Stadium in
Waterloo for the Huron -Perth
meet. The entire team did not
place in the team standings,
but the senior boys won their
division with 120 points. The
midget, junior and senior
boys together placed third.
Since mention of all in-
dividual winners and placers
is not possible, several of the
outstanding will be men-
tioned. Pat Philips, a great
asset to the school, won the
individual senior boy's
trophy. He did this by ac-
• cumulating two first places
and a second.
Congratulations, Pat! •
Wilmar Bakker came first
in the 500 metre race and in
the open 400 metre hurdle.
Paul Garrow was second
in discus and third in shotput.
Steve Reid was first in
discus with a new Huron -
Perth record.
Congratulations, Steve!
The outstanding girls were:
Michelle Corbett who won the
junior girls 400 metre race,
Joan Hunking came second in
discus and third in both
javelin and shotput.
Also, the senior boys' relay
team must be mentioned, as
they placed second, beating
the Huron -Perth record. The
team consisted of Pat Philips,
Mark Nicholson, Paul
Garrow and last but certainly
not least Mike Denomme.
Last Wednesday evening
and all day Thursday, these
people and others went to the
WOSSA meet in London. Top
performers from our school
were Pat Phillips again
placing fourth in long jump
and fifth in both the triple
jump and the 100 metre race.
Wilmar Bakker placed
third in the 400 metre hurdles
and fourth in the 800 metre
race. Mary Anne Cummings
placed fourth in the discus.
This week at CHSS
We would like to
• congratulate the new
members of the Students
Council for next year.
President is Mike Denomme,
M vice president is Gayle
Cunningham, secretary is
Glenna Ellis'a-nd treasurer by
acclamation goes to Bill
Murphy. We hope that they
are of reasonable character
to run our council next year.
Next week is our LAST
instalment of the chronicle
for,this year. Dear Annie
shold be back with more
letters and SOTW may even
return in the fall.
Next week, a complete
M review of the major events of
CHSS this past year will be
put in the Chronicle. There
,
0
will be closing words and
"finish -up" articles. Don't
miss our last issue for this
school year!
Beware the final exam!
This final exam works on the
basis of a recommendation
mark. If you're above 60
percent marks, there is little
to worry about. However,
should you go under - BINGO!
You write the finals for 'the
subject. Let's hope we are
spared most of these exams.
The Wheable Music
Department from London
came for a concert last week
to show off their band and
madrigal choir. Director of
the choir was Lois Abel, last
year's music teacher at
CHSS.
Redmen close season with a loss
Last Friday, the Senior
Redmen soccer team ended
their season with a loss in the
sudden death gemi-final
game. The score was 1-0 in
M favour of the Listowel team`.
It was a very close game
with the Listowel team
jumping into an early lead on
a scrambly play after less
than five minutes of play.
From then on Clinton faced
an uphill battle and had
several good chances to tie
the game and force overtime.
However, they could not get
4/any breaks and time finally
ran out on them.
The players would like to
thank their coach, Mr.
4s,
DeGroot, for his time and
effort throughout the season.
Although it was not a winning
year, it is certain that
everyone enjoyed the season.
The members of this year'
ti
team are Tony Arts, Wilmar
Bakker, Frank Claessens,
Dave Clynick, Dave Counter,
Paul Galachiuk, Alex
Harrett, Mike Hoba, Steve
Johns, Charles Mustard,
Michael O'Reilly, Paul
Robinson, Gary Tebbutt,
Richard Verberne, Pete Wise
and Alan Young. Special
thanks to those fans who
drove to the game on Friday
to cheer the Redmen on.
Just ask Annie?!
Dear Annie:
My friend Waldo is' an
albatross. This, you may
think, 'is problem endugh, if
you are familiar with the life
of an albatross. But Waldo
has a bigger problem still.
Last week he ate his
mother. You undoubtedly
realize the physical problems
involved in this, but what of
the more subtle aspects?
Poor Waldo has been in a
severe state of depression
ever since the indigestion
abated, and he is presently
considering taking a long
power dive off a short cliff.
Consider, if you will, the
waste of another life snuffed
out in that eternal moment of
thunderous collision, the
rocketing bird smashed,
crumbled, annihilated, ex-
ploded on the rock,
demolished and spattered all
over the . . . sorry -- guess I
✓ got a little carried away.
Anyhow, you get the
message, Annie. Waldo is
counting on your advice.
• Just a Buddy.
esf
Dear Buddy: t
Yuck! Ptooi! Albatross all
over the place! But I say he
deserves it. Sell your
grampa, torture your aunt,

Your weekly `horrorscope'

Aires - Try to see below the
surface this week, for things
may be deeper than is
originally thought. If . you
dislike this mystery however,
be shallow!
Taurus - This week you will
have tendency to become
jealous at the least little
thing. A warning to.__
girlfriends, boyfriends, etc. of
Tauf;us people. Take it easy

Gemini - This week, your
moods will skyrocket up and
down from fantastic to
"crummy" and back again
like a mixed-up meteor.
Beware of subsequent jet lag.

Cancer people, have had
horoscopes filled with ex-
citement and suspense lately.
Hate to break the winning
streak folks, but this week is
going to be a big bummer!
Have a good week!
gracious sakes, don't eat your Leo - Your moods will run
mother, whatever you do. so black that you might throw
objects at Anita Bryant's
orange juice commercials
this week. (Don't we all get
the urge??) Beware of angry
television repairmen)
Virgo - Accent is on

Aquarius - Mystery per-
vades your near future. Look
for hidden meanings. Be
suspicious. For an encore,

moment. If your loved one
has a violent temper, perhaps
a suit of armour would be in
order.
