OPP Demonstration
On Friday, April 22, Con-
stable Wilson and Constable
O'Rourke from the Goderich
detachment of the OPP spent
the morning at Hullett
Central School.
They demonstrated
training techniques in police
dogs and Baron, a police dogs
from Mount Forest assisted
them. The presentation was
enjoyed by all.
Spring Concert •
On Thursday, April 21 the
Spring Concert was held. It
features grades two, four,
seven and eight and the
power learning class.
The concert was a great 4
success with a large. crowd in
attendance.

Tarus got his third win in a
row and his 1 lth of the year at
London on Saturday af-
ternoon for his owner Frank
Johnston of Godrich with
trainer -driver Earl Hyatt on
the bike. The speedy eight
year old pacer, by Adios Cleo,
has also had four thirds from
1 starts fro earnings of $9,609
in 1977, He now has a lifetime
total of ?31,740 and a record of
Dilly Dares, owned by
Wayne Horner of Brucefield
was a winner of the $1,000
Preferred pace at Sudbury on
April 2. By that date, he had
raced 14 times, with four
wins, three seconds and three
thirds for earnings of $2,423
this year. •Last year when he
raced locally, mostly with
Dennis Jewitt driving, he had
LI wins, three seconds and
eight thirds for $8,353 and a
record of 2 : 04.2.
At London on April 20,
Dianne Camp, owned by Ken
Holmes of Seaforth, was
second with Ron Williamson
up. Imp Mathers got his
second win of the year in the
third race in 2 :10, with driver
Ray Mathers for the Broken
M. Stables of Goderich. Their
five-year-old Granny
Mathers was third in the
eighth race.
Muddy Knilght, owned by
Jim MacLeod of Seaforth and
C. Browning of Toronto was a
winner in 2:05.3 with R on
Williamson on the bike. .
Keystone !Hartree won his
eighth race this year in new
record time of 2:05.3 for
owner Wayne Horner of
Brucefield at Flamboro on
April 21. Last year he was
racing in $1,500 claimers at
Clinton and Goderich, so it is
hard to pick the good ones.
Single Johnnie, formerly
owned by John Muir of
Seaforth, was third on April 8
at Buffalo Raceway.
Nancy Holmes of Clinton
took me to see two new foals,
at their barn. On Good
Friday, April 8 a filly by
Merrywood King - Pride's
Little Time by Knight Time
arrived, her first. On April 21
a colt was born by Uncle
Horace - Jesabel Hill by Hi
Hill. Jesabel Hill already has
at the races the good trotters
Merrywood Malone, 2 : 07.4
winner of over 432,000;
Merrywood Hi, 2:05.1, over
48,000; as well as Nancv's
Merrywood Hoot, 2:05.2 with
's,13,905 as of 1976.
Jean and Ben Feagan. of
Goderich have a new filly foal
which arrived on April 9. She
is by the Tar Heel stallion
Ames Hanover, which is
standing at their farm, andis
from their broodmare Dainty
Debbie.The latter already
has at the races Pebbies Girl
p, 7:08.4, winner of over
ti16,000; .Dainty Meadow p,
:17; and Pat Meadow, with
four seconds and one third
from six starts last year.
The Feagans are also
pleased with the success of
Jay Bee Blaze, by Brother
Harmony - Miss Callie
Grattan, which they raised
and raced before- he was
claimed. At the end of his
eight-year-old career in 1976,
he had earnings of 469,366 and
a pacing record of 7:01.1.
On April :'1, Truanna Duke
was third at Flamboro for
owner Wayne Horner of
Brucefield.
At London on April 2'2, Scat
Man was third with trainer -
driver Randy McLean up.
Norm Campbell was fifth
with G.G. Greentree and Bill
Caldwell was third with his
pacing three-year-old gelding
by ,Dapper Hill, Lucky Lobo
in his second lifetime start.
He was fifth with Leahaven
Red.
Crash Landing, owned by
George Feagan of Goderich,
finished second at Mohawk on
Sunday night. Last year he
took a record at five of p,
with six wins four
seconds - and nine thirds from
43 starts; good for $13,914 in
19'6 and 823,653 lifetime.
Muskoka Belle was second at
Mohawk on April 25 for owner
Wayne Horner of Brucefield.
Monday night at London,
Hickory Lassie, the twelve-
year -old trotter owned by
Frank Cook of of Clinton, was
a winner in 2:12.1 for driver
Dennis ..Tewitt. Last year she
raced 40 times with eight
wins, six seconds and nine
thirds for earnings of $6,654.
She now has 842,765 lifetime
and a record of 2 : 05.3.
Cathy's Hat, owned by
Brad Vanstone of Goderich,
was third for driver Verdun
Vanstone.
