Mrs. F. Fingland presided and opened the meeting. Mrs. Les Ball read the scripture, and Mrs. John McGregor led in prayer. Mrs. N. Holland gave her impressions of her first flight ted Florida, and the roll call was answered by members contributing something 'for the Angola bale. Mrs. Fingland read some current events. Mrs. J. Nediger and Mrs. G. Rathwell, having returned from holidays in Hawaii, gave their highlights of events enjoyed at that time. Mrs. Nediger wore a native dress and displayed some jewelry. She stated the ,Hawaiian alphabet just has 12 letters. Honolulu is the largest airport in 'the world serving many thousands of people daily. The trip took 11 hours from Toronto to Honolulu. They were thanked for their interesting resume of the trip. The offering was received. Mrs. Rathwell presided for business period. Mrs. Cummings reported 34 home and 11 hospital calls, made packed in June. Mrs. Bond reported the hunger dinner for Churches amounted to $603.40. Picnic. and Mrs. Livermore reported plans were discussed and for flowers and Mrs. Nelsons Holmesville and Wesley - for cards. Mrs. Fingland read \'%i11is. and the meeting closed ,i some letters from UCW foster with the benediction, and child. Thete will be a bale lunch was served. Magic Circle UCW meets Daffodils and forsythia brought spring into the parlour of the Wesley -Willis` United Church for the Magic Circle's.. meeting on Tuesday, April 19. Chairman Mary Murch called the meeting to order with thoughts of spring and Easter. Seventeen members and one visitor were in at- tendance. Devotions were conducted by Florence Oliver, 'Effie Hugil and Mary Jamieson. The group followed an Easter theme and a very amusing skit was performed by Mary Jamieson and Ettie Hugil. Miry Murch resumed the chair and the offering was dedicated. Secretary Helen Davis read the minutesand Golden Radars gather The Clinton Golden Radar's learned _ that 135 senior citizens registered at the Huron County Zone 8 Rally held on April 14 at the Dash- wood Community Centre. The rally report was given by Mrs. Muriel Jones at the group's regular meeting in the Council Chambers on April 0. E. 1'. Smith, president, and Leslie Cook, first five - president of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario, were the guest siSeakers at the rally. Also on the program was entertainment provided by the six clubs in attendance. Wat Webster of Clinton Performed a harmonica solo for the Golden Radars. In other areas, .Mrs. Mary Grigg commented on a workshop that was held in the \V ingha ni Presbyterian Church on April 19. The \corkshop theme was "The ('hanging Rural Community - Prohle'nns and Goals." It was 'headed by Prof. H. W. Caldwell from the University of Guelph. In regular business, the roll call was answered by 36 members. Alice Lawson reported that a flower had been sent to Mrs. Rose McAdam in Clinton Public Hospital. A get -well card was sent to Mrs. Melinda Nivins of Dungannon and sympathy cards were sent to Mr. and Mrs. Earn Dale and Mrs. Myrtle Reid on the death of their brother. Mention was also made of a card party to be held in the Clinton Legion Hall on May 25 at .' p.m. sale. Tickets are now on Cecilia Edgar acted as Master of Ceremonies for the program which followed the meeting. Jim Burgess and Lloyd Crich played guitar solos, while Ida Godkin, Goldie Rutledge and Ceacilia Edgar gave readings. Luncheon was served by Ed and Ida Godkin, Ceacilia Edgar and Goldie Rutledge. The next committee for the May 4 meeting will be Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Trick, Mrs. Olive Ball and Mrs. Evelyn Hudie. m dub 41-01,-417.4 atte, 114 • Pr called the roll which was answered with a thought concerning spring. Treasurer, Florence .Oliver read her report. Social Convenor Billie Stewart thanked everyone for helping with the noon lun- cheon and serving lunch after a funeral. Marg Cole, Ruth Shaddock and Ruth Bond volunteered to bake squares and to help serve after the thank offering. Christian Development convenor, J'an Currie told the ladies that each group will receive three mandates to be circulated among the members .used in meeting preparations instead of the study packs. She also gave a talk on Robert McClure and told how the United Church Missionary Services funds have been used to help Angola to improve their people's diet which lacked protein. Marg Cole announced that a bale will be packed in June and it will be allowed to go to Angola row that Dr. George Burgess has returned there. Visiting convenor, ,Adelle Jervis, reported 24 calls and 10 hospital visits% Correspondence convenor Billie Stewart reported on the cards that had been Sent out, Florence.Oliver noted that a quilt top had been donated and the group voted to buy the materials and finish the quilt. The ladies were also asked to save their sales slips from Zehrs. The meeting was then adjourned and lunch was served. Stanley rec. Those interested in playing the men's slow pitch team are asked to register and practice on May 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stanley ' ball park. Registration fee is $5. Games for this league are on Saturday evenings with the first scheduled game to be held on Saturday, June 4. Anyone unable to attend on May 1 but wishing to play„.. should contact Doug McAsh at 482-9236. Rev. Finlay G. Stewart' will be helping Wesley -Willis United Church celebrate its anniversary service on May 1 at 30 p.m. Rev. Stewart is a noted speaker and former. Moderator , of the Presbyterian Church. He was with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Kitchener for 37 years. 1lthough Rev. Stewart retired in 1971 he is still very active in community affairs. Summerhill ladies meet The monthly meeting of the Summerhill Ladies Club was held on April 13 at the home of Betty Batty. Twenty-two' members answered the roll call by 'bf inging something for the auction. Donna Gibbings opened the meeting with the creed and the Lord's praye-r. In regular business, donations of $15 will be given to the Clinton Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Cross. Plans were also finalized for the dessert, euchre and bake sale to be held in the Sum- merhill Hall on April 27. .The next meeting will be at the home of Sue Vodden on May 11. The roll call will include an exchange of plants and each member telling her height in metric measurements. Lunch and the program will be in charge of Margaret Ball, Lucy Ellis and Laura Forbes. The raffle was won by Gladys Van Egmond. For this month's program Lorna Ellis had • a word ' contest and Marianne Colclough gave a reading, "Tale of a Welfare Farmer." A successful auction of plants and baking took place` with proceeds gig to Summerhill Hall Board. Best wishes and congratulations to newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. John McCallum. Rev. Snell of Exeter performed the first wedding ceremony to be held in the Huronview Chapel last Saturday afternoon when Velma McFalls became the bride of John McCallum. Four new residents were welcomed to the• .Home at Monday's , activities. Margaret, Mrs. Pickard,. Mrs. Sholdice and Margaret Murray. The Goderich Township volun teers and Diane Dougherty assisted with activities. Mrs. Maitland Driver, Molly Cox and Norman Speir provided the old time music. Mrs. Ann Riley and Doug McNall provided a musical program for "Family Night". Mrs. Ruth Papple was, emcee kr the program .and Veat'l Henderson provided the piano accompaniment' There were readings by Mildred Kerr and Dorene • Coleman; mouth organ selections by Lorne Lawson and a sing -a -long led by members of the institute. The 25 celebrants were presented with gifts from the institute. Tea and birthday cake were served to over 100 residents and guests. Mrs. Regier expressed the appreciation of the residents for the lovely party. William McVittie William Roy McVittie of Blyth passed away in Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday April 17, 1977 in his 54th year. Surviving are his wife - Vera Hoggart; three sons, Kenneth of London, Douglas of Kincardine, Randall at home, and one daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. R.R. Wittie, London`' and two grand- daughters, Susan and Karen Wittie. Also surviving are three sisters, Marjorie - Mrs. Ted East, Blyth; Dorothy, Mrs. Owen Rbberts, Ingersoll, Rob.erta, Mrs. Wm.
