Ladies A ux i lia ry learns of loss
of Scout, Brownie leaders
The Ladies Auxiliary met
Wednesday evening April 20
in the Parish Hall.
The president, Jean Dunn
p'esided and opened the
meeting by leading in the
repeating of the Lord's
Prayer in unison.
The meeting learned with
regret that Alan Gates who
has been the Cub leader for
the past five years will be
resigning as he is changing
his residence and the Brownie
leader, Carol Penhale is also
resigning.
Carol had been the leader
for quite sometime, then
resigned, and then a year or
so came back again to help
out. The members were sorry
to learn that the children will
be losing two good and faith-
ful leaders and hope that two
more can be found.
If you are interested or
know of anyone who is in-
terested in helping these little
people to learn to become
good citizens, then please call
Bayfield II, 4-H
The Bayfield II Bed-
warmers held their seventh
and final meeting on April 20
at Mrs. Merner's home.
We began the meeting with
the 4-H pledge and roll call
which was, "Give plans for
Your Next Sewing Project at
Home" or "Name one .new
Sewing Technique that You
Have Learned During This
Project".
We dis ussed our Club
exhibit for chievement Day.
Teri Weber demonstrated the
proper way to slip stitch a
- hem .on a woven fabric and
Mrs. Merner showed us how
to put lace on trico.
On behalf of the Bayfield II
Bedwarmers, I would like to
express our appreciation to
Mrs. , Merner for leading
another successful 4-H Club.

Jean Dunn (Mrs. Edwin).
It was decided to. have a..
mother and daughter get
together in late May or early
June, and learned that the
Cubs will be having a Camp
Out on May 28 .
On Saturday June 4, there
will be a Brownie Camp Day
at Camp Keewaydin begin-
ning at 10 a.m. and several
mothers volunteered to go
along to assist the leaders. A
family picnic is also in the
planning stages.
The ladies were reminded
of the Bake Sale to be held at
the Arts and Crafts Show on
Saturday July 2 at 1:30 p.m.
in the arena. Each mother is
to bake two articles for the
sale. The auxiliary decided to
cater at another Scouters
Training Course such as was
held fast weekend.
Several ideas were
discussed regarding the
raising of funds to assist the
Brownies, Cubs and Scouts
and the first one will be a
Fashion Two -Twenty
Cosmetic Demonstration in
the Municipal Building
(Council Chambers) on
Tuesday evening, May 3 at 8
p.m. Everyone in the Village
is cordially invited to attend.
Mrs. Betty Ann Winstone of
London will be the in-
structress and has kindly
donated a very beautiful pair
of handmade ceramic candle
holders for a draw. The
candle holders are on display
at the Village Market. Tickets
are available at the Village
Market, Graham's General
Store or from members of the
L.A. A ten cent recipe ex-
change took place at the
meeting and raised a few
dimes for the coffers.
It was refreshing to see
more of the mothers out to the
meeting and hopefully more
yet will take an interest in
their children's welfare. Also
your memberships are due. It
was reported that only 14 of
the 40 mothers had paid their
dues for this year. The dues
are only $2. a year regardless
how many children you have
in the movement, and the
L.A. meets once every other
month.
It was suggested that
children not be allowed to
attend Brownies, Cubs or
Scouts until the mothers' dues
are paid.
The meeting closed with the
Benediction and Kathleen
Siertsema served delicious
homemade sweet rolls and
coffee.

You know, it was bad
enough losing an hours'
"beauty" sleep this past
weekend due to Daylight
Saving Time, but think of our
young neighbour who at 7
a.m. Monday morning, stood
waiting for his school bus to
come along.
Our son went outside to talk
with hire and learned that
apparently he had moved the
clock ahead when he retired
or the night, and his mother,
not realizing he had set it on,
also moved the clock ahead
an hour.
It was a long day for all the
family in that household.
