OPEN 1-6 OPEN 1-6 PAGE 8---CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 1977 News of Kippen By Rena Caldwell The annual meeting of Kippen East W.I. combined with fun night, and the un- masking of the Secret Pals, took place in the Legion Hall, Hensall on April 20 with Mrs. Robert Bell and Mrs. 'Grant MacLean in charge. The roll call was, "How to Conserve Energy". Some of the replies were to turn the therrriostat back when you are away for the day, cook your whole meal in the oven, hang clothes on the linend douse the dusk to dawn lights a little earlier. Good reports were presented by the standing committees convenors, Mrs. Vern Alderice, Mrs. Grant McLean, Mrs. Robert Bell, Mrs. M. Connolly, Mrs. Hugh Parsons. Mrs. Alex McGregor gave current events; Mrs. Robert Kinsman reported the spring board meeting and Mrs. Harold Parsons gave the treasurer's report which was adopted. On motion of the auditors Mrs. Robt. Bell and Mrs. Charles Eyre. Mrs. James Chalmers gave a reading "There's Magic in the Pension, Cheque." Win- ners in the contests were Grace Drummond, Agnes and Grace Eyre, Mona Alderice and Marlene Bell; Mary Whitehouse and Frances Kinsman's side :was the winner in the "Elastic Contest." Mrs, Grant MacLean brought in, the report of the nominating committee and Mrs. Harry Caldwell con- ducted the installation of the following officers: hon. president, Mrs. Robert Kinsman; president, Mrs. Al Hoggarth: first vice-pres., Mrs. David Triebner; secretary, Mrs Stewart Pepper; treasurer, Mrs. Harold Parsons; district director, Mrs. Robert Kin- sman; a' alternate director, Mrs. . _James Drummond; public relations, Mrs. Harry Caldwell; branch directors, Mrs. Grant MacLean, Mrs. Vern Alderdice, Mrs. Harry Caldwell; resolutions, Mrs. David Triebner; sunshine, Mrs. John Sinclair - assistant, Mrs. Campbell Eyre; education and cultural ac- tivities, Mrs. James Drummond and Mrs. Vern Alderdice; family and con- sumer affairs, Mrs. Alex McGregor, and Mrs. Ernest Whitehouse; agriculture and Canadian industries, Mrs. Robert Bell and Mrs. Wm. Bell; citizenship and world affairs, Mrs. Grant MacLean, and Mrs. Campbell Eyre; pianists, Mrs. Ross Broad - foot, Mrs. J. Sinclair; auditors, Mrs. Charles Eyre and Mrs. Robert Bell; curator, Mrs. Hugh Parsons. It was decided to continue with the secret pal fun. A committee was formed for catering consisting of Grace Drummond, Mona . Alder - dice, Rena Caldwell and Helen MacLean. Mrs. John Sinclair gave a concise report of the Sunshine fund for the year and had guidelines laid down for this service. +++ Mr. and Mrs. James D. McGregor have spent a few days in the U.S.A. ac- companied by Mr. and Mrs. RalphTurner. Constance By Mary Merner Court Constantine L1842 held 'a dessert euchre on Wednesday evening April 20. Dessert was served at 7:30 p.m. and was followed by euchre with 16 tables playing. The following winners were, ladies high, Mrs. Slavin; lone hands, Mrs. Slavin; lone hands, Mrs. Ida Livingston; low, Mrs. Annie Leitch. Men's high went to David Preszcator; lone hands to George Wright and .low playing as a man to Betty Hulley. P.Irs. E. F. Warren of London spent the weekend visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Reg Lawson, John and Elizabeth. Susie Eybel visited for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Dimaline, Don, Peter and David. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Pawley, Jason, Jonathon and Mandy of Ottawa arrived last Wednesday evening for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson, Sharon and Bob and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson, before they leave for Iniuvik for three years. Mrs. George Mcllwain visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Merner, Sandy, .Julie, Michael and Michelle, when they celebrated Carl's birthday. Mrs. John Thompson and Sharon, Mrs. Mary Scott and Brenda, Mrs. Terence Hunter of Colborne Township, Mrs. Luther Sanders of Clinton, Mrs. Bob Dalton and Kathy and Mrs. Bill Dolmage at- tended a bridalshower on Saturday evening April 23 for Joanne Thompson. It was held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thompson of Goderich. (News -Record photo) • Londesboro 1, 4-H has last meeting The sixth meeting of the Londesboro 1, 4-H club opened with the pledge and then the roll call was an- swered by all. They decided they would have a play practice at Hullet Central and evaluating for their business. For a demonstration, they had shanks on plain buttons, i3indings, braid and putting on fringes. At the last meeting, they decided they would have another practice on April 22. The demonstration was applying lace by hand at the rolled hem edge. Thanks go to the leaders..
