The sea -son champions were Jo- Anne Collins, Theresa Machan, Vera Gibbings, Ken Johnston and Charlie Burgess of the Alley -Cats.. Playoff • champions mere Art Burt, Edith Burgess, Jean Good, Murray Johnston and Ray Foster. • Trophy winners were: ladi'es' high average, Marie Collins, 209; high triple, Theresa Machan, 707; high single, Diane Collins, 297. Men's high average, Ken Johnston, 241 ; high triple, Bill • Lee, 905; high single, Joe Atkinson, 368. After the trophies were received, the bowlers went to the Crown lanes for a game of "fun bowling" and no one got a "450" game, not even a "150". See you all next September. Ladies Tuesday Afternoon Congratulations to the Pressure Cookers who won the playoffs. They are Mona Campbell (captain), Moranne Duddy, Lois Hur- man, Sheila McKay, Betty Macklin and Collin Phillips with 15,464 pins. Salad Queens were second with 15,325 and The Sinkers finished third with 15,259. Hot Pans were in fourth place with 15,219 and Micro Waves had 15,130. The Blenders finished in last place with 14,833. At the time $100 in quarters was taken from the *wash. When the three juveniles were apprehended, Police recovered all the money stolen. It was an interesting inspiring and enjoyable evening,' Mr. and Mrs. Vern Alderdice have returned from Meaford, where they at- tended the funeral of Mr. Alderdices father, Mr. Hugh Alderdice, who died suddenly on April 11 of a heart attack. Carries Coyotes are at 92, while The Bears have 87 and The Lions have 82. Ken's Cobras are in the basement with 721/2 points. YBC Friday Night The standings are close, but the Fabulour Five are in front with 99 points. Tree Strikers are second with 961/2 and Cornish's Cool Cats are third with 94. Close behind are Headpins with 93. The 450s are in fifth place with 89 points closely followed by Super Strikers and Strikes and Spares who have 88 points each. Bay City Bowlers are last with 801/2 points. Ann Deichert led the girls with a high single of 190 and a double of 366. High average went to Lynn Armstrong with 180, Paul Stephenson was high for the boys with a 211 single and 345 double. Phil Cornish had the high average of 170. YBC Majors Wendy Gibbings led the girls with a 240 single and 631 triple, and Nancy Kuehl had the high average of 190. Jim Switzer led the boys with a 321 single and 719 triple. Bdb Atkinson was high average with 211. Rams lead the standings with 1561/2 points. Bad News Bears are second with 147 and Rough Riders are third with 141. Gerry Johnston of the Bluffs Motel on Highway 21, south of Goderich, was a winner in :07 at London on Saturday. Randy McLean of Goderich now has his horses stabled in London. On April 13 he was third with Jason Direct for Len Goldfarb of Montreal. Fred Magtrtre, driving Wayne Parker, interfered with Scatter Wave and Cathy's Hat, driven by Verdun Vanstone. As a result the latter two did not finish in their race. Joe McDaid was fourth with Bobby Tar for owner Jim Riehl of Goderich. Chief Noble was fifth with Norm Campbell up for Gord Rapson of Holmesville. Chinco Dane, owned by Che Bec Ltd. of Montreal, was third for trainer - driver Randy McLean. Dave Wall drove Muddy Knight to a second place finish for Jim McLeod of Seaforth and C. Browning of Toronto. Bold Tar Heel is back in the Dennis Jewitt stable again. On Friday night at London, BAi11 Rapson was fifth with Ackwin for his father Gord of Holmesville. That morning Bill won a qualifying race with A Mortgage Lifter, now 12 years. Randy McLean was fifth with Scat Man on Saturday afternoon at London. Pebbies Girl, owned by., George Feagan and Gerry Roebuck of Goderich, was second with the latter on the bike. Leahaven Red was fifth in the same race for trainer - driver Bill Caldwell of Clinton. Randy McLean was second with Tide Delight, owned by Donald Campbell of Goderich, on Saturday. The winner was Hyport Ted, a three-year-old gelding by Tarport Arnie - Heather Hy, which makes him a half- brother to Derby Dan. Shelly Duke, owned by Art Maskell of Goderich, was a winner in 2:07.4 at Leamington on Sunday af- ternoon. Leamington Raceway will go for 10 Sundays from April 17 to June 19. They will have four Ontario Sires Stake Races including three-year- old filly Trot on May 29; the three-year-old colt Pace on June 5; the two-year-old filly End of hockey playoffs near Stratford Cullitons may have a tougher time than Clinton's Bill Irwin imagined before they capture the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior "B" title. Cullitons lost the first game sof the best -of -seven final to Streetsville Derbeys, 8-5. The second game is in Stratford tonight with the third game in Streetsville Friday and the fourth back in Stratford on Sunday. Irwin, who is more known for his defensive work, scored one of the Cullitons'goals. He is not a high scoring defen- seman but has a good shot from the point. Stratford coach Jack Nairn commented that Cullitons 'have not lost ore than one game in a series so far. "We don't want to start now," he said. In the QHA Junior "D" championship series, Exeter Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the best -of -seven series by defeating Staynor Siskins, 9 - 3 in Zurich, Sunday night. The third game will be played in Zurich, Thursday night. The Siskins defeated Belmont Bombers in last year's OHA Junior "D" final. Essex `73s played in Bowmanville on the weekend and came home with a split in the first two games of the best -of -seven OHA Junior "C" final. The third and fourth games will be played in Essex on the weekend. Essex eliminated Listowel in the semi-final round. Cyclones had eliminated New Hamburg Hans who in turn had eliminated Clinton. Essex is looking for its second title in the past three seasons. Petrolia Gibbons Squires, who eliminated Port Elgin Sunocos, have taken a one - game lead in the best -of - seven OHA Intermediate "C" final by defeating Bradford 7- 2 Sunday night. The second game will- be in Bradford on Saturday evening. The third game will be Sunday afternoon with a fourth game in Petrolia on Saturday, April 30. The fifth game if necessary will be in Petrolia on Sunday, May 1. Pace on June 12; and the two- year-old colt Trot on June 19. Bill German of Goderich was third with Janet Express at Orangeville on Sunday afternoon. Florence De Groof reports that 'Victorious David, a three-year-old chestnut gelding by Royal Melody - Victorious Harmony, which August sold to Joe Kemps of Centralia, qualified at Orangeville on Sunday. Several area horses are going to Hanover to compete in qualifying races only at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. The regular racing season at Hanover begins on Saturday night, April 30 and goes until October 1. Clinton Kinsmen Raceway will open on Sunday, June 26 and will go until September 25. They will have, four Ontario Sires Stake Races including two-year-old colt Pace on June 26; the two- year-old filly Trot on July 10;` the three-year-old filly Pace on August 21; and the three- year-old colt Trot on Sep- tember 11. With the number of horses nd°w in training, plus a new grandstand on the finish line we should have an excellent year of racing.
