Sorry to report Mr. Howard Armstrong and Mrs. Russell Fleming of Seaforth (former resident) at the time of writing are patients in Seaforth Community Hospital. We would like to wish them well. Mrs. John Thompson left on Monday morning for a week's holiday in Hawaii. She was one of the top 22 Avon managers from Cana'tla going. Thanks to Eric Anderson, John Thompson and Sam McClure from the euchre players of the community for making it an enjoyable season and looking forward to next year. Jott• ings from St. Joe's Essay -poster contest The Alasable - Bayfield Cinservation Authority recently held an essay and )ster-. contest for all area students. On March 31 an awards ceremony was held and Jeff Schmidt was presented, withthird place in the essay contest. Grey Schmidt and Rick Shanahan received honourable mention awards in the poster contest. All three received day passes to all parks managed by the tkthority and Jeff received a book "Grey Owl -Pilgrims of the Wild". The theme of the contest was "Conservation - What it Means to Me". Students council Jacqueline Bradley was recently elected the new student council treasurer by the students. ilFacequeline will replace John Holtysen who moved to Holland. Open house After several organizational meetings, the . r student's council presented their annual Holy Thursday program on April 7 at St. Joseph's School. The luncheon consisted of sandwiches relish ' trays, salads, cold meats and delicious desserts, all of which were donated by the parents, staff and students. Happily a large number of parents and pre-schoolers came to help us enjoy it. After lunch, the mass was celebrated by Father Hardy in commemoration of the Last Supper. Berry Group t Tuckersmith U.C.W. held their Easter meeting in Brucefield United Church on Monday evening, with an attendance of twenty- five, who answered the4roll call with a verse on Easter. The meeting opened with a lovely dinner sponsored by the penny sale contest which was much enjoyed. The winners of the contest wish to thank Mrs. M. Walter and her helpers for such a wonderful meal. Mrs. Ann Broadfoot and Mrs. Ross Scott were in charge of the devotion. The meeting opened with a poem and a hymn was sung with Mrs. Elsie Henderson at the piano. Mrs. Ann Broad - foot took as her topic, "the meaning of Easter". She said Christ died willingly, in the interest of his people. It was very interesting. The collection was received and dedicated and a hymn was sung to close this portion with prayer. Marjorie Broadfoot lead charge of the business portion and +;opened with a poem. Thank you notes were read from Mrs. Alice Ham, Mrs. Dallas and Mrs. Haugh. Invitations to Easter Thankoffering at Kippen April 12 and to Ontario Street Church on April 24 were read. Visitors day will be held June 7th. Further notice later. The May meeting will be in charge of Mrs. Doris Sillery and Mrs. Muriel Allan. This is fun night so bring your friends for a social time, there will be ,a plant sale as well. A banquet for the Society will be held April 16 and all members of Unit I are urged to help.
