Businessmen plan Market
A Farmer's Market will
become a reality in Clinton on
June 4, according to Heather
Ross of the Clinton
Businessmen's Association.
The Market will be open on
Saturdays throughout the
summer from 6 a.m. to noon.
A Farmer's Market
Committee was formed at
'Tuesday's meeting of the
Association ,.and Nancy
Eastman was hired as
Market co-ordinator. She is a
university student and will be
looking- after the market as
part of her summer work.
The Association hopes the
Market will open in con-
junction with the Spring Fair.
Also as part of the Spring
Fair the Association hopes to
have a `Dream -House' set up.
This will be on the lines of the
one which is open at the
Canadian National Exhibition
each year.
Mayor Harold Lobb was at
the meeting on Tuesday along
with about 25 other members
of the Association. Nick Hill
of Auburn was the guest
speaker. He is a consultant
on renovation of downtown
areas in towns and villages.
The Association will be in
contact with him throughout
the summer and it is possible
they may have him do a
survey of Clinton with a view
to improving the appearance
of the downtown area. I -Ie
looks at the historical value of
a building as well as the
appearance.
Mrs. Ross stated that
anyone interested in having
produce incorporated in the
Farmer's Market when it
opens can contact Bob
Campbell at Campbell's
Men's Wear. The fee for a
booth has not yet been figured
out but any other information
necessary' can be obtained
from Mr. Campbell.:
The merchants also voted
to change their name from
the Retail Merchants
Association , to . the
Businessmen's Association.
