Any men in the township who are interested in playing ball should call Doug McAsh at 482-9236 for further information. ' Ross Whittaker of Varna agreed to be the co-ordinator for this year's softball season. Along with Doug McAsh and Arnold Taylor, they will co- ordinate games with the other townships and be in charge of the ball park lights. Registration for ball has been set up for the first three weeks of April. This year there will be a registration fee of $3 per child or $5 per family. A registration form can be found elsewhere in this paper and will also appear in next ? 1977—,PAGE 21 week's paper which can be mailed to Ross Whittaker, Varna, Ont. Of if you wish, there will be a ball registration day on Saturday, April 23rd in Varna Township Hall from 9-12 a.m., at which time you can bring the form and fee. Ross and his committee will be looking for people to coach boys or girls teams, umpire and drive to games, although volunteers would be greatly appreciated, too. Discussions followed on such topics as rent to be charged for outside teams using the Varna diamond with lights and without lights; more area for car parking at the ball games; construction of a building at the park for washrooms, equipment storage and future snack bar area; and the building of player benches. It was learned that interest has been expressed by some in the township to play soccer and volleyball. He said it was his un- derstanding theracing commission had something like $180,000 available to use for such projects all over Ontario. This would likely mean the town would have to come up with the full$100,000 - and that perhaps the racing commission would pay 25 per cent of the bill this year, and maybe 25 per cent of the bill next year.
