Irene Konarski, 21, of R RI
Blyth, is one of 89 Canadians
who have been selected for
the 1977 overseas program of
Canadian Crossroads
International.
,Crossroads a non-profit,
voluntary organization has its
IS head office in London-,
Ontario, and local
associations in every
province. rA
Selected Canadians must
raise $750 to participate in the
program which involves
spending four months living
and working in one of 19
developing countries in Asia,
Africa and the Caribbean.

Crossroads, which receives
over half its budget from the
Canadian International
Development Agency and the
remainder- from private
donations, has since 1958, sent
volunteers to third world
countries to promote in-
tercultural understanding
and co-operation.
Irene, a third -year student
of psychology at Wilfred
Laurier University will leave
for Barbados in the Czirib-
bean community in May. She
will use her skills to assist a
',local community with a social
service, education or
recreation project.
W.L. (Bill) Jamieson
William, Lawrence (Bill)
Jamieson, 702 Beaverbrooke
Ave., London, formerly of
Clinton, died March 29 at age
33. T
Mr. Jemieson was born
June 1, 1943 in Clinton, the son
of the late Lawrence
Jamieson, and Mrs. Jean
Jamieson. He was manager
with Gulf Oil and married
Gertrude ,(Ann) Bradley of
Clinton, who survives.
Besides his wife and
mother, Mr. Jamieson is
survived by three daughters,
Dianne, Margaret and
Michelle; three sons,
Andrew, Edward and
Lawrence; one sister, Mrs.
Doug (Jeanne) Wise, and one
brother, Reid (Bud).
The funeral service was
held at the Ball Funeral
Home by Rev. John
Oestreicher on April 1, 1977.
Interment followed in Clinton
Cemetery.
Elmer J.W. Dale
Elmer James Wellington
• Dale of 81 Princess Street,
Clinton, died March 31 at
lir Clinton Public Hospital after
a lengthy illness.
Mr. Dale was born in
Hullett. Township, November
18, 1910, the son of tIte- date-.
Shepherd Dale and Ida
Stevens. He attended No. 1,
Hullett Public School and was
a farmer in the area all his
life.
In August, 1.936 he married
it Clara Storey who • survives
along with his mother. Mr.
Dale was a member of
Ontario Street United
Church.
Besides his wife, Mr. Dale
is survived by one daughter,
Mrs. Bill (Margaret Marie)

Walter Forbes. -. Flower -
bearers were Kenneth Dale,
Michael Dale, Earl Flynn and
Bruce Dale.
Arthur William
Groves
A well-known Clinton
businessman, Arthur William
Groves,.. died March 29 at
Clinton Public Hospital
following a,heart attack. The
deceased operated a radio
and television and appliance
sales and service business for
30 years before his retirement

Mr. Groves was born in
Rickmansworth, • Sussex,
England, February 14, 1898,
the son of Emanuel and
Susannah Groves. He was
predeceased by his first wife,
Gladys, in April 1959. His
second wife, Beatrice, lives at
31 Princess Street, Clinton.
Mr. Groves was a member
and elder of Ontario Street
United Church. He was also
an active member of the
Golden Radar Club.
Surviving, besides his wife,
are two daughters, Mrs.
Mervin (Helen) Nott,
Seaforth and Mrs. Bill (Ruth)
Piper, London, and one son
Clayton, Clinton. One sister,
Connie Colclough, Clinton,
-also survives. One sister,
Daisy May, and one brother,
Edward, predeceased. He is
survived by six grand-
children and four great-
grandchildre'n.
Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. L. Lewis
at the Ball Funeral Home on
March 31. Interment was in
Clinton Cemetery.

Counter, Clinton, Harold
Jervis, Toronto, Bill
Fleischauer, Clinton and Bob

IN CLINTON
It is the intention of Clinton Town Council to enferce the
standards prescribed in the "Property Maintenance add
Occupancy Standards By -Law" passed in July 1976.
Part of this By -Law ensures that debris, rubbish, weeds, long
grass, and wrecked, abandoned, or dismantled vehicles will
be prohibited within the Town of Clinton.
Prevision% in the By -Law provide for penalties up to 5500 for
the First offence.
The Town Council are desirous that all citizens will co-
operate in improving all unsightly areas within our Com-
munity.

Mary Geraldina Janmaat, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Janmaat, of Seaforth, and Danny Edward John-
ston, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Boyce, of Bayfield, were
married February 26 in St. James Roman Catholic
Church, Seaforth. Father H.J. Laragh officiated. The
bride was attended by maid of honour Ann Janmaat,
Seaforth, and bridesmaids Bonnie Johnston of Bayfield.
Joan Janmaat and Joanne De Groot of Seaforth. Flower
girl was Tammy Janmaat. Greg Potter of Goderich was
the groomsman, and ushers were Ervin Keys of Varna,
Luke Janmaat of Seaforth, and Larry Johnston of
Exeter. Margaret Sills was organist and Rose and Pete
Loomans soloists for the ceremony. A reception followed
at the Clinton Legion Hall. The couple are residing in

CAS director leaves
for government post
The resignation of Bruce R.
Heath, Local Director of the
Children's Aid Society, has
been accepted with regrets by
the Board of Directors of the
County Society effective May
27, 1977, with the an-
nouncement of his ap-
pointment to the Children's
Services Branch of the
Ministry of Community and
Social Services.
The appointment to the
staff of the provincial
Director of Child Welfare will
entail supervision and con-
sultation with Children's Aid
Societies andresidential care
facilities for children and
youth in assigned areas of the
province, and related
assignments' within the
Ministry.
Heath • was appointed -local
director ,of the Huron
Children's Aid Society in 1970
following supervisory
positions with the Catholic
Children's Aid Societies in
Hamilton -Wentworth and
Metropolitan Toronto. A
graduate .of St. Michael's
College, University of
Toronto, Heath subsequently
completed his Bachelor and
Master of Social Work in
Toronto, and further studies
at the University of Chicago.
Active in local and
provincial social welfare
affairs, Heath presently sits
on the provincial Steering
Council of the Management4
Information System for child
welfare, the provincial ad-
visory committee on
Retardation §ervices for the
London District office of the
Ministry, is a member of the
hoard -elect of the Huron
Centre For Children and
Youth, the Continuing
Education Committee of the
Faculty of Social Work,
Wilfrid Laurier University,.
and the Early School Leaving
Committee of the Huron -
Perth Separate School Board.
'He is a past member of the
Advisory Board of the Social
Services Division of
Conestoga College, was af-
filiated with the extension
division of Georgian College
as an instructor in foster
care, a past -chairman of the
former Huron County Social
Services Co-ordinating
Committee, and served on the
advisory boards fo the former
Goderich Friendship and
Information Centre, and
Erwood I Boys Home.
He has also served on
various committees and
projects o'f the Ontario
Association of Children's Aid
Societies including its Ser-
vices Committee, the Select
Committee on the Hanson
Task Force Report, was
Program Chairman of the
1975 Provincial Conference
and participated in the
federal -provincial con-
sultation of the proposed
amendments to the Juvenile
Delinquency Act.
Heath is a member and
past -president - of the
Goderich Rotary Club, and a
parishioner of St. Peter's
Church, Goderich, where he
has served on the Parish
Council ,and as a lector. Mr.
Heath, his wife Elsie, and
children Larina and Marc,
will- take up residence in the
Toronto area.

ternoon's program. The
Christian Reformed
Volunteers from Clinton and
Ed Zeale assisted with the
actitivies.
Residents who -are mem-
bers of the Rebekah Lodge
enjoyed a party in the north
dining room. on Tuesday
afternoon.' The event was
arranged by District Noble
Grand, Mrs. Mary Fisher of
Exeter, and a special guest
for the occasion was the
Assembly Warden, Helen
Spicer of Aylmer. -The Exeter
Lodge members served
lunch.
The Family Night program
was arranged by Harold Lobb
of Clinton with Fred Lobb as
emcee., The program con-
sisted of vocal and in-
strumental numbers by
Janice Miller, John Newell,
Craig Cox, Bruce Pulsifer,
Fred, Burt, and Harold Lobb.
Mrs. Cox, the former Luella
Lobb, thanked the en-
tertainers for the hour of fine
music on behalf of the
residents.
A good number of friends
and relatives visited 1V1r. and
Mrs. Hugh Love on Saturday
afternoon in honor of their
,Oth wedding anniversary. '
Holmesvitle news

United Church news
Worship Service was held
in Holmesville United
Church, Sunday with Holy
Communion being
celebrated. Sunday School
was held in the Church Hall.
Next Sunday, the Sunday
School will be in charge of the
Sunrise Service which will be
held outside, weather per-
mitting, at 7:30 a.m. with
breakfast being served
following the Service.
Regular Easter Service to be
held at 9:45 a.m.
Personals
' Many in Holmesville and
area will be happy to hear
Mr. McIntosh will keep the
store open for service.
Good to see a few more are
corning back to Holmesville,
where its not so hot and no
bugs are out as yet. Bonnie
and Don Lockwood arrived
back nice and brown. Johnnie
and Pearl McFarlane are
back, so welcome home folks.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Trewartha and Ronald were
Sunday visitors with Mr7 and
Mrs. Wm. Norman.
Irene Cudmore is home
again after a few .days in
Ottawa with her daughter-in-
law and grandchildren.

Womens Institute will meet in
Holmesville school Monday
evening April 12 at 8 p.m.
Everyone is welcome.

The sixth meeting was held
on April 4th atthe home of our
leader, Mrs. Betties. Both
secretary's and treasu'rer's
reports were read.
Each member is asked to
draw up plans for the exhibit
and give trim ideas at the
next meeting.
The demonstration and
discussion included sewing in
sleeves, hems, and slip
stitching and sewing on
buttons. Our next meeting
will be held April 13th at the
home of Mrs. Bettles.
