Clinton News-Record, 1977-03-24, Page 13N 0 • r Stanley planning workshops 1 The first workshop on Stanley Township's secondary plan attracted a full house to Varna Township Hall last Tuesday, March 15. Stanley is the ninth township in Huron County to begin drafting a secondary plan, a more detailed version of fok Country Market the County plan. Rural planner, George Penfold, right foreground, of the Huron County Planning Department will be on hand for all six of the workshops to help township residents draft the plan. Mrs. N. Reil and Gordon Richardson were the lucky draw winners. Personal Rev. E.S. Stephens and Mrs. Stephens .and family spent the winter holiday with some of their family up north. Mr. Wesley Ham Gravenhurst spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Alice Ham and Mrs. M. Swan. Mrs. A. Ham is in Toronto -Hospital having undergone surgey. Brucefield and surrounding community extend deep sympathy to Mrs. Helen Burdge and family in the loss of her mother, Mrs. Ald Johnston, Seaforth. The choir's anthem was "In The Cross I Glory" with Mrs, Glen McGregor, organist and Mrs. Allen Bosman, choir leader. Rev. McDonald's children's story was "Let's Pretend", and ' junior teachers were Mrs. Tom Duizer and Christine Carter. The message was "Beneathhe Cross of Jesus". The flowers at front of church were placed in loving memory of Mrs. (Kathleen) George Neil by sisters Miss Edyth Beacom and Mrs. Laura Lon. Roll call was answered to "points to remember when cutting or marking your material". This week's discussion was naming the club, the election of officers, and books. The club name to be "Little Ladies of the Night" and the books to be white with a cover, which has not been decided upon. Officers elected were: president, Golda Sewers ; vice-president, Brenda Millar; rotating secretary, Golda Sewers; rotating press reporter, Brenda Millar. Demonstration was seams and leaders Day Datema and Madelyn Sewers brought their sewing machines so girls could do their seams at the meeting. Seven members were present. Personals Mrs. Joe Shaddick was admitted to Seaforth Hospital on Sunday and friends hope she will soon be home. Mr. Tom Allen returned home from Clinton Hospital on Saturday. Colleen and John Scruton, Clinton spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen. Congratulations to Kenneth Pollard in his success in passing his Grade 8 piano exam with honours at the recent examinatiuons held at the Western Conservatory of Music, London. His teacher is Mrs. Gail Lear. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick were Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Shaddick,. Moorefield; Miss Lloy Shaddick and John Knowles, Kitchener; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shaddick. They all enjoyed a family dinner Sunday at Franken- muth, Michigan. Mrs. Clair Vincent spent Friday•night with her mother, Mrs. Capling, Kitchener and attended the Ice Capades. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cowan and Greg Hanover spent the weekend with his mother Mrs. G. Cowan. Rev. McDonald, Ken Hulley, Jessie Tebbutt and June' Fothergill attended the Forrester District Council banquet and Annual Meeting at Wallacevitle on Thursday evening. Kippen East Women's Olive Webb of Grand Bend Institute entertained the Institutes . from Elimville, Grand Bend, Hensall and Hurondale in the Legion Hall, Hensall on March 16, Mrs. Al Hoggarth, the president, welcomed the guests and the roll call was answered by "What I expect to be doing ten years from now". The Kippen members also displayed beautiful treasures of glass, china and silver and gave the history of the pieces on display. The president of South Huron District, Mrs. Roylance Westcott and her secretary, Mrs. L. Ballantyne were present. Mrs. Westcott spoke briefly, •bringing greetings from the district and a summary of. future events of interest to all W.I. members. Mrs. James Drummond gave two humorous readings was the winner in the games and Elsie Earl of Hurondale was low. Jean Lynn, Elim- ville was the winner of the draw. The meeting closed with "The Queen". Personals Two young men in the area have recently undergone - operations for the removal of their appendixes - Allan Bell and Brian McGregor. Miss Janet Shanks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Shanks had the misfortune to fall and break her ankle and is at present a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Faber are holidaying in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Shanks are visiting Mrs. Shank's parents in Shelbourne over the weekend. Miss Sherri Lynn Pine is visiting her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ed McBride.
