Mr. and Mrs. Bert Greer and Mr. and Mrs. Gladwin Westlake returned home Saturday evening after spending a pleasant holiday at Lake Wales, Florida' and ,surrounding places. Mrs. Mabel Duncan of Dundalk and her daughter, Ruth, Mrs. T.W: 'Lyons of Bruee•field visited at the home of Mrs. N. Flaw on Wednesday. Linda Hudson of London visited on Sunday with the R. Fitzsimons family. Mrs. A. Lougheed and family, Dundalk visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw and family. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Penhale returned home on Sunday # afternoon from an enjoyable trip to Arizona and Los Vagas. While in Arizona they. visited with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Scotchmer. They spent a few days in California, visited the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Mexico and many other places of interest. They travelled over 6,000 miles travelling through 15 states. • a Tom and Carol were ac- companied by Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Young, who live north of Goderich. Miss Joanne Arkell of Toronto, visited with her aunt nd uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. urner on the weekend. Also #visiting with them were Miss Sue Forscutt of Columbia, Missouri. They also visited `with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Arkell, Goderich; Mrs. Arkell still being hospitalized. It was with regret that we learned of the passing of Miss Carrie Dixon of Brantford, beloved sister of the late Ethel E. Paull and sister-in- law of Cannon F.H. Paull. During the years that Rev. and Mrs. Paull lived at the rectory Carrie visited here frequently and always en- joyed coming each summer later. Carrie was held in high regard by nuiherous friends in the community and will be missed by all who knew her. Dr. G.H. and Mrs. Shepherd also Professor and Mrs. 1 albleisch attended the funeral in Brantford on Thursday. We extend our sympathy to Cannon F.H. Paull, whose brother is also quite ill in London. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scotchmer, Robert, Carolyn and Lorri also the latter's little girl friend of Chatham spent the weekend at their home here. Mr. Irvine Pease London was at his home in the village on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Brandon, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham flew from London to Tampa. Florida, staying at St. Petersburg for a very en- joyable vacation. They returned home _1n the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Coleman of Walkerton were callers on Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker were in Port Huron on Sunday where they helped celebrate the birthday of Miss Julie Hislop. They also attended the ice show at Port Huron. Some of the Hislop family took part in the ice show. Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Clarke have returned home from spending three months in Barrie with their daughter, Janis Clarke. Arena plaque to be unveiled Plans are underway to mount a plaque in the Clinton arena in memory of Laurie Colquhoun who b.equested $15,000 to help pay off the debenture on the arena. Clinton recreation Com- mittee members Ray Garon and Don McKay are in- vestigating the purchase of a plaque which would be un - "1 veiled before the start of a play-off junior or in- termediate hockey game in the arena. - The plaque may be mounted on the n'ew $3,500 tractor room planned to be built later this year, or on the present tractor room in the arena which could be con- verted into a first aid station. - CLINTON NEVUS RECQ D, `a H Holmesville 11 4-H The first meeting of the Holmesville 11, 4-H club was held at the home • of Mary Brand on March 7. We opened the meeting with the pledge and seven members an- swered the roll call "Why do I belong to 4-H?" We elected officers: president, Jackie Brand; vice-president, Marie Brand ; secretary -press reporter, Irene Heykoop. Our leaders are Mary and Diana Brand. We discussed how to equip . a sewing box, clothes for leisure and getting ready to cut the fabric. Diana discussed and showed us the proper method of measuring and then everyone paired up and measured each other: Then we figures out our. figure types and found out the right size for our patterns. The second meeting was h'bld at Mary's place on March 14 when seven people answered the roll call. We discussed the proper way to alter a pattern to our measurements. We discussed grain and stay -stitching, gathers, darts and seams. Mary demon- strated stay -stitching, gathers, darts straight seam •and .the French seam and where, why and how they are, beneficial. Diana demon- strated the tailor -tacks, tracing paper, flat -full seam and the top stitched seam.
