Merner attended a birthday
party on Sunday afternoon for
Barbie Roberts on the oc-
casion of her 8th birthday.

to be held from 7 till 8 p.m.;
followed by /he dance.

W.I. meets
The WI held their Canadian
industries meeting on
Wednesday, March 9 in the
hall. The meeting , opened
with Genevieve Allen at the
piano. President Dora
Shobbrook welcomed all with
a thought on March. Roll call
was answered by naming an
industry that is no longer
active.
Minutes of the last meeting
and financial report were
read by the secretary -
treasurer, Addie Hunking.
The branch executive
meeting will be held in
Belgrave April 4th at 1:36
p.m. and the steering com-
mittee meeting will be held in
Kirkton - and' Listowel on
March :30th, An information
letter from Mrs. Maluske,
president of F.W.I.O. on
projects coming up. They
were asked for stamps,
floated off in water, carefully
dried and packaged in groups
of :5 in plastic envelopes (no
Kings or Queens) : also quilt
blocks with the name of
pattern, size of quilt, yardage'
required and the number of
blocks and detailed in-'
structions.on assembling the
blocks.
A letter from Miss Jane
Pengulley, Home Ecorromist,
stated she is being tran-
sferred from Huron County to
Wellington Coun` j. A letter
was also received from Mrs.
Porter along with a card of
thanks from Alex Dark.
Beryl Reid reported on the
Sunshine Sister Banquet to be
held April 1-''th at 6:30 p.m. in
the United Church. The
course on "Quilts". will be
held on Tuesdays, March 15
-and at 1 p.m. in the hall,
and the leaders are Marjorie
Anderson and Marjorie
Duizer.
The program consisted of
Irish duets by Laurel and
Leon Duizer accompanied by
their mother on the piano.
Three games of bingo were
conducted by Hazel Reid and
the winners were Elma
Jewitt, Gary Datema and
Marjorie Anderson. Doreen
Carter told about A.R.C.
Industries at Dashwood.
They are selling tickets on a
stereo and the draw to be held
April 1st. It was moved to
donate $:'5 to their work.
• Genevieve Allen secured a
film "Canada Produces"
from Canada Packers. Jim
Jamieson ran the projector.
They were informative and
much enjoyed by all. Jim was
thanked by Beth Knox and
presented with a gift. Lunch
was served by Genevieve
Allen, Andre Hunking and
Joyce Kennedy.
13erean Unit meets
The Berean Unit of UCW
held a work meeting on
Tuesday March 8th with a
good attendance. Two quilts
were tied and a box lunch was
enjoyed. President , Hatti
Wood thanked all for coming
and read a number of psalms.
A short business meeting
was held, when it was moved
to send the quilts ' to Scott
Mission' in Toronto. Isabel
Adrie offered to clean the
altar brass for the month of
April. Happy Birthday was
sung to Margaret Whyte and
Alice Buchanan.
The April meeting will be
held one week earlier, on
April 5th at p.m: This will be
the Easter meeting with
Mona Pipe and Ida Durnin in
charge.

W.I. card party
There were ten tables in
play -at W .I. card party on
Friday night. The winners
were: ladies' high, Pearl
Cummings; , lone hands,
Myrtle Fairservice: low, Eva
Mills: men's high, Eric
Anderson; lone hands,.
Margaret Taylor (playing as
a man) : low, Ted Hunking.
There will be another card
party on March 25th at 8:30.
Those in charge will be
Margaret Taylor, Vi Burns
and Hattie Snell.
Fellowship night
,The last Fellowship night
for this, season was held on
Friday night March 15 for the
district elders, Lorne
Hunking, Harry Lear, Jack
Lee, Don Buchanan and
Charles Riley, with a pot luck
supper.
Rev. MacDonald welcomed
all and said Grace. After
supper, some games 'and
contests were conducted by
Rev. McDonald, Harry and
Gail Lear led in an Irish sing
song using a shillelagh for
directing. The Church hall
was d: corated in Irish
fashion with shamrocks,
Irish hats, green and white
streamers. Mr. McDonald
showed some cartoons for the
children and Mrs., Watson
Reid showed slides and
commented on a trip to
Hawaii. The meeting ended
with "Blest Be The Tie That
Binds",
Thanks to Mrs. Reid and
Mrs. Joh-n Pollard who
chaired the Fellowship
Nights, during the winter.
Sunday School
The Sunday School staff
met on Monday evening for
their regular business
meeting and training night
under the direction of
Superintendent, Gary Jewitt.
Plans were made for a
special World Relief
Program in which the Sunday
School students would, take

p.m.: this is for adults as well
as children, to support the
Sunday School.
