Snowarama raises $3$,Q00
The Whipper Billy Watson
Snowarama attracted 375
snowmobile riders who raised
abaut $38,000 last Feb. 27, and
looking back, Hully Gully
owner Randy Collins said it
will g down in history as "a
tremendous success."
"We had a tremendous
turnout considering the
terrible weather conditions -
we went through four seasons
in one day," Collins said. The
snowarama had been set for
Jan. 30th but was postponed
twice by stormy weather.
He had nothing but praise
for the 200 local people who
worked to keep the 100 -mile
trail passable.
"The last part was the
roughest," according to

Iv;ln McClymont of Varna wears the chain of the South
Huron County Master of the Orange Lodge following his
election last month. McClymont., who was deputy master
last year. replaces Charlie Reid, Past Master. The
County Master is chosen from the seven lodges in the
district. (News Record photo)
Mr. and Mrs. Grant
Webster spent an enjoyable
eight days in sunny Jamaica
in the West Indies, staying at
Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.
They toured Kingston by bus,
and at Dunn Falls they met
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller of
London, formerly of Clinton.
They were interested in the
various crops grown, which
included pineapple, sugar
cane, bananas," - coconuts,
coffee, cocoa and citrus
fruits. There were feedlots
there too. Big cars are
scarce, as gas is $2 a gallon.
Bread is $1.50. They found the
native people very friendly,
and were impressed with the
very white sand on the ex-
tensive beaches. With an air
temperature of 90 and water
78, it was great 'for swim-
ming.
