After singing "0 Canadl" all were welcomed by the president., minutes were read and approved, and roll call was answered by 31 members, and five visitors. Cards were sent to Mrs. Jennie Wise, and Mrs. Lillian Jamieson, and a sympathy 'card to George Glazier on the death of his sister. A thank you card was received from George Glazier. Star Membership now is 46. Huron County Zone '8 of USCO is having their Spring Rally in DAshwood Hall on April 14th. This is open to all clubs of Huron County. Details at a later date. It was decided to have a pot luck supper at the next meeting in the Town Hall, on March 16th. A St. Patrick's program to follow, with the committee y of George and • w Minlue Rumball, Myrtle Busby, Jessie Jones, and Mary Grigg. Everyone is bringing their own plate, knife, fork, and spoon. Watch for a further an- nouncement of a euchre party to be held in the Legion Hall, sometime in May. The president reported the bus tour to Oquaga Lake, N.Y. on June 10, the bus is filling up fast,. so anyone wanting to go, phope the president. Door draw prizes, went to Caecilia Edgar and Eldon Kerr. The meeting closed with the Queen. Cards were played, and lunch served by_ the committee, of Ed and Jean Jons, Esther Kendall, and Mae Gibson. Presbyterian Woman's Missionary Society pre"sid"ent, Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson was in charge and slated that the 'program llad been prepared by the Christian Women of the German Democratic Republic and would be used by groups around the world. Mrs. Fred Lawrence ac- companied on the organ. Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock introduced the guest speaker of the 'afternoon, Rev. G.L. Royal of 1C ox Presbyterian Church, Goderich. Mr. Royal spoke on the world theme, "Love in Action". The offering was received by Mrs. Frances Clark and Miss Minnie Wagner. Thirty five ladies attended the service. 4-H CLUB The first meeting of Auburn Two 4-H club was held on February 17 at the home of Karen McClinchey. Elected to office were president -Linda Cun- ningham, vice-president-, Anita Hallam, press reporter - Janice McClinchey, secretary -floating. Assistant leader, Mrs. Tom Cunningham discussed the type of garment they were going to make. Measurements were taken and the types of materials to use and the sheet'choosing clothes for leisure were done. The meeting was closed with the 4-H motto "Learn to do by doing." The second meeting of the club was held at the .home of Karen McClinchey. The president opened the meeting and a discussion took place on book covers. This was followed with a demon- stration on how to alter the shoulder on your pattern, lengthening and shortening the crotch and leg. Marking and cutting out the fabric was also discussed. The members decided to call their club - The Lacey Loungers. The third club meeting was held with the president Linda Cunningham opening the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Karen McClinchey and Mrs. Tom Cunningham, the leaders, discussed the dif- ferent seams, darts, gathering and seam finishes for their garments. The second meeting of Auburn one 4-H club was held at the home of Mrs. Donald Cartwright. The president,- Kim McDowell, opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. The minutes were adopted as read by Sherry Verbeek. Carol Seers will be the secretary for the next meeting. The roll call was answered by showing your pattern, fabric . aid name, telling name of fabric, fiber content and care. A discussion followed on how the material was prepared for cutting and the members placed their pat- terns on their fabrics. Mrs. Cartwright and Mrs. John Hildebrand demonstrated alterations and staystitching. ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN St. Mark's Anglican Church Women met last Tuesday for their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Ian Clark. Mrs. Clark presided for the program and gave the Invocation. The scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Donald Cartwright and the meditation was read in unison. Prayers were taken by Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell. Mrs. Clark read a letter from Mrs. Fordyce Clark of Goderich on a ,Parable and closed with a hymn. A letter was read from Mrs. Fordyce Clark concerning the Northern Missions stating the need to send bales due to disaster caused by fire. A discussion' took place on quilts and quilting as the A.C.W. has• done several. It was annqur)ced that tile annual Deanery meeting would be held on May 5 at ,. London.' A delegate will be chosen to attend at a later date. The roll call was answered by paying fees and the travelling apron received a donation. A small auction was held with Mrs. Slater as auctioneer. Rev. Fred Carson closed the meeting with prayer. A lunch was served by Mrs,. Donald Cartwright. SOCIAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haines of Niagara Falls visited recently, with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines. . Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robertson of Meaford visited last week for a couple of days with her mother, Mrs. Elva Straughan and sister, Mrs:, Thomas Jardin and Mr.t Jardin. Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McIntosh of London spent the week -end with Mrs. Frances Clark. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rea of Listowel op the birth of theirdaughter, Jodi Elizabeth on February 28 in Listowel hospital. A sister for Christopher and another granddaughter for Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dobie. Little Misses Christine, Rhonda ' and Jennifer Stadelmann spent last week- end with their grandmother, Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock. Mr. and -Mrs. Donald Cartwright, David, Derrick and Lorie visited last week- end with Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Williams and Ruth at Willowdale. Mr. Cartwright attended a meeting of the Canadian 'Black Powder Association in Toronto on Saturday. Mrs. Donald Kai of Oakville spent the week -end with -her mother Mrs. Catherine Jackson. We are pleased to report that Ross Robinson returned home last week -end after being a patient in Alexandra and Marine hospital Goderich fora couple of weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Youngblut of Woodstock spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson and other relatives in the district. Mr. and Mrs. Fordyce Clark and Mrs. Anne Red- mond of Goderich were guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips. Don't forget the March meeting of the Auburn Women's Institute next Tuesday March 15 in the Auburn Community Memorial hall at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be in charge of Mrs. Leonard Archam- bault, public relations officer for the branch.
