That just about sunt up 'the three days last week when 10 students Wm CHSS attended a model ited Nations in. Norwich, Ontario. • Upon arrival we were met by the "Palestine Liberation 4 Organization. A member of this delegation, Matt Smith, the President of Student's' Council, was hilariously dressed in a guerilla warfare outfit. Quite appropriate we thought. He said it was camouflage!! That night a large party ,was held at a community hall for all the delegates. Little * did we know about the un- mentionable tactics that were being planned for the following -day. During the U.N. on Friday we found ourselves engulfed by harassing notes, threats, and offers that were hard t6 refuse. Representing Poland was Veronica Huffman and Marie Bradley; Denmark : Philip. Street, Scott Doherty and Brian Gerig; Phillipines: Janet Huntley and Jeff Hearn; Yugoslavia: Cathie Lewis, Ruthann Penfound, and John Stephens. A member of this delegation found himself disrobed by security - we. won't say who John. This honourable delegate from Yugoslavia received honourable mention for best CHSS sports roundup Basketball On Thursday, February 17 the Senior Redmen were defeated 52-35 by Wingham. Just ask Arnile! Dear Annie: I 'fount last veek's column very eenterestink, indeet, Arnie. I hat no idea you were so eenterested in psychological research, unt I am just the guy to g'eef you a few pointers. In dealink vit intellectual unt perspectiff continuum, relatiff of course, to Machiavellian's principle of luminiferous simultaneity, it is necessary to make use of . duality unt functional har- mdfi4y in the transformation from Meta to Theta vaves, ,; but only if they are radiatink from the- innermost quadrant of the ocular lobe. See? Unt as for Eddinkton's theorgy of hypothetically sympathetic perception unt its ap- plications to spectroscopy.. . o tell you the trut I think it's all a lot of Greek to me.. or vas he Italian? Anyway, Annie, I threw in vit my letter a copy' of my latest paper on intra -cranial vacuum control through my latest design in inner -ear syringes. Happy thinkink! Ludvig von Deutzchenzinger, M.D. Dear Ludvig.: Since ven--since when is this column an outlet for crackpot professors! For the last two weeks all I've gotten in the mail is an obscene letter from a psychologically disordered . Yankee and a truckload of meaningless bunk! Whatever happened to all you -problematic .... t.eenie- boppers out there? Sheesh ! costume (or lack thereof). The delegate from Israel found , himself being kid- napped .during a con- troversial resol4tion dealing with Israel -Arab ' conflicts. Ireland found themselves subjected to removal from the Assembly after shooting delegate from Liberia with a cap gun: Many other resolutions dealing with oil tankers, torture in countries, and canaries were strongly debated. That night, a formal .banquet 'was held for all the delegates except Scott. Brian, remembering that he had to pick up Scott raced to Scott's house, only to find him furiously eating a cold pizza. A doggy bag was given to him by some of the delegates to try and cheer him up. Following the banquet there was a dance. It was most unusual for us because everyone was dancing. We knew we weren't in Clinton. The 'following day, the UN resumed its function of solving 'the problems of the world. The USSR submitted a resolution banning all the bathtubs in the world, replacing these with com- munal showers. They felt that far too many injuries were incurred in bathtubs. Red China, upon agreeing with this found themselves at war for about five minutes. As far as we know it was the shortest war in history. The USA who won "Best Delegation" gave out skimpy - or should we say "skippy" peanut butter sandwiches in honour of Jimmy Carter. They also buttered up the President by giving her an entire jar. The trip was very enjoyable and believe it or not we did learn something. We would like to thank Norwich High School and everyone else -who put up with us. How you' did it, we'lI never know. Mrs. James Drummond gave a thought provoking motto in which she didn't altogether agree with the assigned topic - "Young people who march in protest should remember the roads were paid for by their 'fathers ". She brought out that young, people do not do all the protesting, the teachers and the unions seem to be doing most of it.
