UCW hears of stewardshi
The Afternoon Unit of
Wesley Willis United Church
met in the church parlor, on
Feb. 17th, with an attendance
of 20 members and one
visitor.
• The leader, Mrs. G. Rath -
well, welcomed all 'present,
especially those who had been
absent because of illness. She
read a poem, "Footprints on
the sands of time". Mrs. J.
Nediger read the scripture,
and Mrs. N, Holland gave
some thoughts on "The
Stewardship of Living."
Mrs. G. Rathwell then gave
a talk on "Stewardship",
stating loving and sharing
are a part of living. Our depth
of faith is governed by our
service to God and mankind.
Your , faithful Church at-
tendance, your envolvement
in Church activities; even
calling on the sick, or phoning
shut-in folk. Stewardship of
living doesn't just mean
dealing with finances: while
our money can help spread
the gospel and can be our
voice in many languages, still
stewardship involves time
and talents. We all have some
talent, even though we may
not be aware of it. But
fellowship and collective
thinking helps a great many
people. Some of us may not
have as much time .as others;
but sometimes its the little
things done for other people,
which mean so. much for the
sick or the lonely or
discouraged. Your in-
volvement in doing what you
can, is just what makes life
worth while.
The offering was received
and dedicated, and the, roll
call was answered by
quotations .on "Love", and
the paying of fees.
Mrs. P. Livermore gave the
flower report and Mrs. B.
Hearn re.ported 33 home and
16 hospital calls were made.
Mrs. F. Fingland stated plans
for upcoming projection -
March 12, and plans for the
noon luncheon on March 31st
were left for the March
meeting.
Mrs. M. Durst, convener of
Membership & Visitation for
LJ'CW read a list of shut-ins for
our unit to visit.
It was announced the Day
of Prayer service will be held
in the Christian Reform
Church March 4th at 2 p.m.
Hasti notes were donated to
Card Convener for use in
UCW. The Mizpah
Benediction closed the
meeting, and lunch was
served.
Golden Radars meet
The Golden Radar Club met
in the Council Chamber on
Feb. 16th. The meeting was
opened by the president, and
.she welcomed all. One minute
silence was observed in honor
of our deceased member Eva
Scribbins. The roll call was
answered by 34 members and
two visitors.
The All-Star bus tour to
Scott's Oquaga Lake N.Y. is
leaving on June 10th. and
anyone wanting to go is to get
in touch with the president,
Leona Lockhart. Thanks to
Percy Gibbing§ for repairing
