Don Beck taking as his sermon topic, "Remember the Sabbath". Mrs. John Turkheim assisted at the organ and the choir sang the anthem, "He Keeps me Singing". The annual meeting of the congregation will be held following the service next Sunday. There will be a pot- luck luncheon first. Hockey News Monkton beat Hensall Bantams twice during the last week putting them out of the O.H.A. competition. Only exhibition games will be played for the rest of the season. Scoring for Hensall on Saturday were Kevin Parker, Tim Lovell and David Consitt while Murray Illman, Doug Broughton, Tim Worth, Tim De Block and Bradley Smith aoch scored one goal for nkton. Credit is extended oto the outstanding play of Hensall goalie Steve Sararas all through the season. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne have returned froma very _ pleasant stay in Buckeye, Arizona visiting with their daughter, 'son-in-law and grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Merritt and Greg, for the past 'two months. They enjoyed Christmas dinner on the patio in the sunshine. Mrs.. Robert Watson, Seaforth, : Mrs. Audrey Christie, town 'and Mr, and Mrs.• Don Dodds, Seaforth visited with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Randy Mason and Andrew of Huron Park visited with the latter's parents, ;Mr. and Mrs. John Sk,ea on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chaffe and baby Sally visited with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Corbett during the. 'last week. The World Day of Prayer will be observed in Hensall at Carmel Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Gwen Whilsmith. All women of the community are invited to take part in this service. The spring 4-H Club project, "Clothes for Leisure" will be starting very soon. Any girl who is 12 years old or older by -March 1 may join the club. There will be an organizational meeting at the Hensall United Church on Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. This club is sponsored by the Hensall Women's Institute as usual. The Kinette Club of Hensall started their February meeting with a delicious meal at the Hensall Bean Pot. It was reported at the meeting that a total of $318.56 was collected during the March of Dimes Canvass and the Kiiettes would like to thank all the volunteer. canvassers and all those who contributed. OPP Report A herd of cows taking a walk across County Road 13 . in G'oderich Township last Monday night learned the hard way that it is not a safe practice. Goderich OPP report a 800- 900 pound 'Hereford heifer was hit by a car driven by Ken Gibbings of RR 4, Clinton 'as he tried to swerve around 10 of the animals that had broken through a fence along the road. The heifer - was later destroyed by its owner, Jacob Reder of RR 1, Bayfield. Damage to the Gibbing& car Was set at $400. The Bayfieldjnovice team had a most successful season, winning most of their games, behind the excellent goaltending of Bill Sinnamon. The- Goderich Township Women's Institute met at the Township office Wednesday February 16 at 2 p.m. with the president, Bernice Mellwain in the chair. The meeting opened with the ladies repeating the Women's Institute Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect. Bernice then welcomed the ladies to the meeting. Alice Porter read the minutes sof the last meeting and presented the finaneial statement and also read the correspondence including a letter from the president of Women's Institute. Roll call was given by each lady present telling of or showing an old book they have. Hazel McCreath gave an interesting talk on the quilting done at the training school in the Anglican • Church Hall, Clinton. Effee Yeo held a contest, the winner was Hazel McCreath: Discussions were held regarding a donation to be made .to the Heart Fund and on the birthda4, party to be held in the Holmesville church March 14 at 12:30 with a pot luck lunch. The lunch table was nicely decorated for the occasion of "Valentine's", lunch was served by Myrtle * Banter, Evelyn Orr, and Milly Dempsey. A social time was had by all.
