Brownies
The Vanastra Brownies are
holding registration on
Thursday, February 24 at the
Vanastra Christian Church
from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. All girls
between. the ages of 7 and 10
are invited to come out and
join.
- The Brownies will be
holding a bake -craft and
rummage sale on March 26 at
the Vanastra Christian
Church. Anyone wishing to
donate clothes, toys, dishes,
etc, for the rummage sale
should call 482-7606, 482.-7607,
482-9425, or 482-3513 for pick
up.
Further details will follow
as'the date draws nearer.
. Volunteer mothers are
needed to help, with special
events for the Brownies.

General meeting
The Vanastra Community
Association will be holding a
general meeting on Sunday,
March 6th at 3 p,m. at the
Vanastra Recreation Centre.
This meeting is an dpen
meeting and not restricted to
members only. Children are
welcome for anyone who is
unable to get a babysitter.
This is an extremely im-
portant meeting and
everyone is urged to attend.

U.C.W. meeting
The • UCW, February
meeting of Chiselhurst United
Church was ;held on Tuesday
afternoon following a mor-
ning of quilting and a "Pot
Luck" Dinner.
The president, Mrs. Harold
Parker presided and opened
the meeting with Meditation
followed by the theme song
and theme prayer. The roll
call 'was answered by the
members reading the
Beatitudes. The treasurer
Mrs, Thos. Brintnell gave the
financial report.
The members plan to en-
tertain the residents at the
Queensway Nursing Home
each Monday in the month of
March-, and the president

Presbyterial held at Seaforth,

with piano music. The March -
meeting was discussed and
business dealt with. The'.
annual meeting will be held
on February 18th at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Jack Brintnell was in
charge of the Worship Ser-
vice, the theme being "Point
of View" Mrs. Thos. Brintnell
took the Bible study
Following the business Mrs.
Parker closed the meeting
with prayer.
Society elects officer
The South Huron
Agricultural Society met in
the Town Hall, Hensall on
Monday evening February
7th, with the president, Bill
Coleman presiding.
Peter McNaugh.ten
presented George Frayne,
Exeter with a service
diploma. The annual Spring
Fair will be held on June 21st.
Elgin Thompson presided
for the election of officers as
follows:. president, Bruce
Rathwell; 1st vice-president,
Robert Baker; 2nd vice-
president, Ray Consitt;
auditors, John Baker and
Eric Luther. Jack Corbitt and
Elgin Thompson were ap-
pointed delegates to the
Agricultural Convention
being held in the Royal York
• Hotel, Toronto, February 16
and 17th.
.Refreshments were served
at the close of the meeting.
Senior Citizens meet
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Horton
and Mr. and Mrs. Alf Ross
were hostesses ' for the
February meeting of the
Hensall Senior Citizens. The.
room was tastefully
decorated with hearts and
cupids in keeping with
Valentine Day.
Mrs. Rosa Harris, vice-
president, presided over the
• meeting which opened by
4 singing 0 Canada with Mrs.
Mickle at the piano. Mrs.
Irene, Finlayson read the
minutes and Mrs. Wm.
Rogerson gave the financial
report. It was decided• to
purchase a set for carpet
bowling.
Mrs. Thos. Brintnell was
appointed card convenor. The
committee in charge for the
March meeting is: en-
tertainment, Mrs. • Irene
Finlayson Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor and Bill Fair-
burn ; lunch, Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Kinsmen and Mrs.
Mamie McAllister.
Alf Ross was master of
ceremonies. Mrs. Laird
Mickle and Mrs. , Alf Ross
favoured with piano duets.

A very enjoyable evening
was spent on Saturday at the
Hensall Arena when the
family of Roily" and Marg
Vanstone entertained neigh-
bours
and friends in honour of
their 25th wedding an-
niversary. Dancing was
enjoyed to music by
Heywood's orchestra and
refreshments were served.
The couple were married in
Seaforth.
Mr. Earl Love is a patient
in South Huron Hospital
Exeter where he .is receiving
treatment.
Mr. James McEwen is a
patient in University
Hospital, London.
WMS meet
The February meeting of
the WMS of Carmel
Presbyterian Church was
held on Monday with the
president Mrs. Harvey Hyde
presiding. and opened the
meeting with a poem and
prayer.
Mrs. Bert Thompson was in
charge of the devotional "God
Answers Prayers." Mrs.
Rochus Faber read the
Scripture. Mrs. Hyde in-
troduced the Study Book with
parts taken by Mrs.
Thompson: "The Changing
Family in' Canada" and
"Concerns For the Family."
Mrs. Malcom Dougall gave
the chapter "Marriage and
Sexuality." Mrs. Clarence
Volland gave the chapter
"Responsibility For
Children." Mrs. Edith read
several passages of
t Scrip-
t. The Devotional con -
with a message on
""Neighbourliness and What
Our Church is Doing to Help,"
and a poem on "Winter" by
Mrs: Bert Thompson followed
by prayer.
Mrs. Hyde announced the
World Day of Prayer will be
held in Carmel church March
4th at 2:30 p.m. The Synodical
will be held in Knox
Presbyterian Church,
Stratford on April 12 and 13th
when -Mrs. Rochus Faber will
be the delegate for the
district.
Mrs. Hyde gave a report of
'the recent meeting held in
First Presbyterian Church,
Seaforth. The Spring. Rally
will be held at Belgrave in
May. The March meeting of
the WMS beheld March
7th.
Mrs. Hyde reported for the
Bible Society. Following the
minutes and roll call, the
meeting concluded with the
Lord's Prayer.
