Cyclones flatten Mustangs
• By Bryan, Marriage
Last Friday night the
Clinton Mustangs lost their
bid to regain- possession of
first place when the Listowel
Cyclones trounced them 11-4.
Now the battle for second_
place continues in OHA Jr.
hockey action with the New
Hamburg Hahns hot on the
trail of the Mustangs, trailing
by only two points.
In last Friday night's game
against the Cyclones, the
visitors opened up a three
goal lead before Clinton's
leading scorer Robbie Heard
retaliated for the Stangs.
Randy Millar narrowed the
gap early in the second period
with a goal assisted by Heard
and Jamie Thompson.
Not to be overpowered
Listowel replied with . four
more goals to end the second
period with a score of 7.2.
The Mustangs tried in vain
in the third period and
received a pair of goals, fired
by Marl( King anti Steve
Cook, while Listowel replied
with fair more goals, two of
which were short handed.
It will not take a miracle to
.unseat Listowel of first place,
'and Clinton must win their
remaining three game S to
stay in front of New Ham-
burg.
This Friday night the
Walkerton Black Hawks
make their final visit to
Clinton for an 8:30 p.m.
game, while on Sunday night
the New Hamburg Hahns are
in town for that all important
game, maybe to decide who
finishes second in the league.
Gametime for this contest is
7:30p.m. •
The game against Port
Elgin, last Sunday night was
cancelled due to the storm
and arrangements have not
been made yet to reschedule
it.
